HUMANOID COLLECTION AUTUMN/WINTER 2012 - 2013
SHAPED UNIVERSE
HUMaNOID designs are based on the senses. Each collection is an intuitive exploration into silhouettes and materials that express our latest self-image. This is how, for this season, new shapes and compositions emerged from free improvisation.
Highlights from aUTUMN/wINTER 2012-2013:HUMaNOID’s characteristic layered style has been re-examined; tight pants go under a straight skirt, a voluminous cardigan like coat is paired with wide cropped trousers and an over knee skirt is worn underneath an oversized top. Proportions leave space for individual interpretation; is it a long sweater or a short dress? The collection demands to be discovered.
The wealth of possibilities is also found in the materials, most notably in their variety of structures. Large cocoon coats are made in a solid, double face cotton with relief structure. The pixel-y tweed effect of a soft but solid silk jersey is hypnotizing in feminine draped dresses and tops. Other effects are subtler such as the authentic grey jogging jersey over dyed with just a tinge of color. Leather is important as usual at HUMaNOID, like supple washed leather in tight variations on the motorcycle jacket, a straight shirtdress with roll up sleeves or a mini skirt.
Prints are more important than ever. as if combined at random in an outfit they emphasize one another; a morphed pattern of triangles feels ethnic next to a classic ‘pointillé’ print featuring little elephants and flag prints. These motives reappear in HUMaNOID’s famous wrap scarves.
In between all the rich earthly tones, for which HUMaNOID is known, are some bright sparks: african orange and ochre, Japanese shades of blue and aqua greens. Powdery pastels and black frame the palette.
In knitwear structures catch the eye by fantasy stiches and cables in a soft yak blend, a blow up ajour in mohair or a furry knit with tough zippers. a tweed look creates an interesting relief in a linen-wool quality. The same effect works for a jersey knit with extremely wide stripes. For those who don’t tolerate wool HUMaNOID always adds styles in soft cotton mélange to the collection. Other favorites are cold dye cashmere and the hand knit look.
The shoes give a strong accent to HUMaNOID’s silhouettes. There are lots of tough comfortable booties as always, also in an open sandal variety with wedge heels to wear with chunky socks. a soberly used clean leather type is a new feature. The shoes have been produced (sampled?) in strong shades from the aw 2012-2013 collection, such as ‘dune’, ‘shadow’ and ‘ochre’.
