ABOUT THE MYTH

The ide of opposites attract has been around for many years

The basis of this idea is that people with different personalities are more likely to be compatible and experience gratification

Its assumed that opposites attract because the relationship will have more excitement.

An example of this would be the good girl attracted to the bad boy

PROOF OF THE MYTH IN MEDIA

The most popular example of “opposites attract” is in the movie Pretty Woman where a prostitute and business man fall in love

Beauty and the Beast is about a girl and a beast. What could be more opposite.

Twilight is also and example. A vampire and human fall for each other.

WHY THIS IS A MYTH

When it comes to settling down and finding a mate, since people subconsciously seek out mates who have similar traits as themselves. 

This is also known as homogany and has been proven in many different studies,

According to the “similarity-attraction hypothesis” individuals feel most attracted to potential partners who, in important domains, are similar to themselves (Dijkstra, 2008)

Although many individuals occasionally feel attracted to “opposites”, attractions between opposites often do not develop into serious intimate relationships and, when they do, these relationships often end prematurely (Dijkstra, 2008)

SUMMARY

In our society, the myth of opposites attract is very common

But studies have shown that people are more likely to be in relationships with people that have similar personalities to them.

With that said, complementarity personality traits also still play a role in picking partners.

Grammer & Spelling- I rate this at the level of GOOD.  On slide 1 for example the word ide I'm guessing should be idea. Also slide 3 what could be should have a question mark, so im sure once you go back and reread you'll catch those minor errors

Clarity & Organization- Excellent the presentation is well understood 

Use of Supporting Evidence- Excellent. I rated it this because of the slides that included movie title and the last slide with the refrences 

Relavance to Human Growth & Development (Physical)- I rate this category as GOOD because there are detailed slides about actual people and what their thoughts are for physical attraction 

Relavance to Human Growth & Development (Cognitive)- I rate this good because it is including throughout the slides about how people actully attract over what the myth is stating

Relavance to Human Growth & Develoment ( Socio-emotional)- I rate this topic Good because mostly of what is staed in slide 4. Great points

When reviewing and improving my PowerPoint, I fixed the grammar mistakes that my peers pointed out. I also added pictures to make the presentation more appealing to the eyes.
