New York City-based Hudson Concrete Polishing made its New York Fashion Week (NYFW) debut at the Marc Jacobs Fashion Show, held at the Lexington Avenue Armory on February 14, 2013. Creative Engineering, a design firm headquartered in New York City, commissioned Hudson Concrete to develop the runway just five days before the show. The round catwalk, which spanned 80 feet, was a wood platform finished with decorative sand and cement. “My team of artisans fashioned the runway into a moonscape with an urban aesthetic,” explains Paul Huneck, owner of Hudson Concrete, “using Arapido, an innovative cement product, and pigmented sand.” Huneck understands the world of high fashion and the importance of creating a meaningful retail experience. Hudson Concrete has made custom concrete floors for Diane von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein, Sean John and other prestigious brands for nearly a decade. “The way that a floor is designed has a tremendous impact on the overall perception of the space and brand,” says Huneck. “Lighting, intensity of color, and tonal and textural differences guide our technical and creative processes, and the result is critically important to our success, as well as our clients’ success.” HUDSON CONCRETE’S BOLD, LUNAR RUNWAY TAKES CENTER STAGE AT MARC JACOBS FASHION SHOW Photo Shawn Brackbill
