Enjoy Christmas in Huddersfield...From the outdoor ice rink to a whole feast of festive concerts and events, there is plenty to enjoy in Huddersfield this Christmas.

We officially begin the festive season with the Christmas lights switch-on and the start of late night shopping on 18th November. Special guest Santa Claus will switch the fantastic lights on with a Huddersfield Town football star, mascot Terry the Terrier and a lucky young competition winner. It could be you! See page 6 for details.

Festival of Light is even bigger this year - with two chances to catch the free show on both Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th December. Plus there will be lots of other entertainment across town that weekend to keep you busy before and after each show - find out more in our special Festival of Light section on pages 7 to 10.

Kirklees Council have provided some free parking in the lead up to Christmas so look on page 15 for parking information and don’t forget the free town bus to carry those weary legs around the town.

Once again Virtual Huddersfield will be producing a video of Christmas in the town, and this will be available to watch on the HTCPL website. You can also watch the video, and previous years’ events, on www.virtualhuddersfield.com.

We hope you enjoy your Christmas shopping in Huddersfield town centre and take this opportunity to thank you for your continuing support in making our town such a vibrant one! Happy Christmas to you all.

Best wishes,

Win the chance to switch on the Christmas lights!Huddersfield Town FC is teaming up with Huddersfield Magazine to find a talented young artist to help switch on the lights. All you have to do is draw a picture of the Town mascot Terry the Terrier enjoying his Christmas celebrations.

He could be unwrapping presents by the tree, or flying with Santa and his reindeers. Use your imagination and come up with an original, colourful drawing and send it to:

David Sykes, Huddersfield Town FC, Stadium Way, Huddersfield HD1 6PX

Entries must be submitted by Friday 12th November. Remember to include your name, age, address and contact details.

The lucky winner will also be invited with their parents to Town’s home game against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday 11th December as guests of honour! So get out your colouring pens and start drawing.

Christmas WishHuddersfield Pendragon Round Table are raising funds for their Christmas Wish campaign which aims to support families who deserve a special treat this Christmas. Headline show:

Corazon de Angeles, Theater TolFriday 3rd and Saturday 4th December, 7.30pm, St George’s Square [FREE]

Corazon de Angeles, translated as ‘Angel Heart’ is a magical outdoor show based on the story of a wedding. Featuring fabulous fairytale folk, incredible operatics and angels gliding serenely across the sky, the show will amaze and astound audiences in the majestic backdrop of St George’s Square.

The show comes courtesy of Belgian performers Theater Tol, who have entranced millions across the globe with their airborne operatic shows.

The show, which will be performed on both the Friday and Saturday evenings at 7.30pm, will last approximately one hour. And, unlike previous years, the performance takes place entirely within the square - so get there early for a good spot!
