What is NGN What is NGN

Next Generation Network (NGN) is a service-oriented network.

Through the separation of service and call control, as well as

call control and bearer, the service-independent architecture is

implemented, which makes services independent of network.

NGN is a kind of open and integrated network architecture.

NGN is a kind of brand-new network integrating voice, data, fax,

and video services.

Introduction Introduction

As a SoftSwitch product, SoftX3000 is located at the core cont

rol layer of NGN scheme.

SoftX3000 acts as a generic Call Controller in the packet-switc

hed network, supports the interworking between PSTN, H.323,

SIP, and MGCP domains.

SoftX3000 provides H.248 and MGCP based bearer control.

In the NGN solution of Huawei, SoftX3000 acts as the core of N

GN, interworking with other NGN components through the ope

n network adopting distributed standard protocols.

SummarySummary

NGN is divided into four layers: access layer, transport layer, contr

ol layer and service layer.

NGN is the four-layer hierarchical network based on packet switchi

ng and transmission. Interworking between different layers is realiz

ed via open standard protocols, which provides NGN with consider

able advantages and flexibility.

Located at the control layer of NGN, SoftX3000 is the core control e

quipment in NGN for information interchange. It is used to control t

he communication of various MGWs.

The transmission and interchange of information streams between

MGWs do not fall into the control of SoftX3000. It is under the contr

ol of transport layer instead.
