An Instant Network for Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Problem

Motorola Solution

Value

Extreme Home Makeover needed a worksite network that could also provide benefits to the community.

The network had to be operational in less than a day!

Motorola’s standards-based MWAN 4300 access points   5.4 GHz Point-to-Multipoint 400 series AP and subscriber modules   ERS Data Solutions used One Point Wireless Suite to plan, deploy

and manage the network

Connectivity for the 5,000 community volunteers and construction team

Currently serving 459 homes in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood. The network supports the community’s development in areas such as education, healthcare and crime-fighting.

“When they filmed “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in Indianapolis, The Estridge Companies’ construction team had 106 hours from the point the house was demolished to present a set of keys to the design team. To help them communicate more effectively while meeting that aggressive timeline, we deployed a Motorola wireless network in a little more than three hours.”

Sam Kincaid, System Engineer ERS Data Solutions

Enhanced Connectivity for the Coal Fields of Wyoming

Problem

Motorola Solution

Motorola Solution Value

•  Four coal mines had a wide range of vehicle health management systems that could not be monitored remotely.

•  Down time for these vehicles is measured in hundreds of dollars per minute.

•  Motorola’s proprietary industrial MWAN 6300 wireless network •  3D-P’s Intelligent Endpoints with integrated Motorola MWAN 6300 technology on the vehicles •  Motorola Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint solutions for backhaul.

•  Single interface on each vehicle provides real-time updates on engine condition, load statistics, tire pressure and other critical diagnostics. •  All data centrally managed for four separate sites.

Providing Connectivity to a Ski Resort Town in Italy

Problem

Motorola Solution

Motorola Solution Value

•  The town of Cervinia in Valtournecheis had no broadband service.

•  No data connection was available to the buildings at the summit, 35 km away at an altitude 2 km higher.

•  Motorola PTP 400 Ethernet Bridge and PMP 200 network equipment were installed in a single day

•  The Motorola wireless broadband network has been working well at 3,500 meters and often in temperatures dropping below -30°C.

•  The network delivers throughput of 14.8 Mbps – more than enough bandwidth to provide connectivity to a number of hotels and facilities.
