Conflict StyleInventoryDr. Marshall Sashkin

This instrumentassesses individualapproaches to

conflict and shows how tomake conflict a constructive, rather than destructive, force

in your workplace. This revised and improved editionincludes new scales that measure a team’s approach toconflict as well as each individual’s approach.

The instrument consists of 10 vignettes that describerealistic workplace conflicts. For each vignette, partici-pants are presented with five possible responses to theconflict, and are instructed to indicate which ones mostclosely describe how they would actually deal with thesituation. The results give respondents an accurateassessment and understanding of their own naturalapproaches to dealing with conflict and provide astarting point for developing the skills necessary tobegin managing conflict constructively.

The Trainer’s Guide provides explanations of eachvignette and discussion of typical responses to each. Italso includes workshop designs, a lecturette, overheadtransparency masters, norms, and references. ManagingConflict Constructively is a helpful participant handoutthat provides background information on conflictmanagement.

The PsychologicalType Indicator (PTI)

Personality

The Psychological Type Indicator (PTI) is a carefully crafted personalitymeasure that is designed to give individuals guidance about theirpsychological type using the scales first presented by Carl Jung. The focusof the PTI is on providing individuals themselves, their managers and thosewho train them, with an understanding of personality and its effect onperformance both inside and beyond the workplace.

DescriptionThe PTI was developed by The Test Agency and first published in 1997.The initial design was based on an understanding of Jungian typology anda range of type indicators.

The unique design of the PTI scoring system provides the key to seeing person-ality type in the context of how personality can be influenced by environment.Conditions that fall outside our natural preference boundaries will be lesspreferred and, consequently, are more likely to be avoided. For example, anindividual with a naturally strong preference for introversionmay find that he or she can cope with one-to-one interpersonal contact, but expressesanxiety about group social settings. This isclearly highlighted by how the PTI displaysand an individual’s results.

Features• Powerful, innovative scoring systemthat highlights the range within whichindividuals are likely to be comfortableadopting different behavioral styles tocope with changes in their environmentand the different life pressures theymight face from time-to-time.

• Simple to use integrated Answer Sheetand Scoring Key with built-in Profile Chart.

PresentationThe PTI is packaged as a Self-ScoringQuestion and Answer Booklet, with anIntegrated Profile Chart. The PTI bookletincludes basic information on Jungiantypology that an individual can compareto his or her results.
