The HP ProLiant DL100 Storage Server is preloaded with theWindows® Storage Server 2003 operating system. Prior to powerup, deployment instructions found in the “Installation Guide”should be followed to enable the successful configuration of thestorage server in addition to the guidelines found below.

To begin the first-time startup procedure:
Be sure that the server is safely installed in an adequate environment.
Be sure that the power cables and peripheral devices are plugged in and AC power is supplied to the server.
Refer to the Installation Guide prior to powering up the server.
This document is for the person who installs, administers, andtroubleshoots servers and storage systems. HP assumes you arequalified in the servicing computer equipment and trained inrecognizing hazards in products with hazardous energy levels.

Warnings and Cautions
WARNING: Before you begin, make sure that the rack issufficiently stable. If provided, lower the rack leveler feet andmake sure any required stabilizers are installed. If provided,extend the rack anti-tip device. Failure to extend the anti-tipdevice could result in personal injury or damage if the rack tipsover.
CAUTION: Make sure that the rack and all equipmentmounted in the rack have a reliable ground connection. Verifythat the total current of the rack components does not exceedthe current rating of the power distribution unit or outletreceptacles.
