In this lesson we will be learning about the Diamond Jubilee.
Do you know who this is?
Our Queen, Elizabeth II, must be the most famous grandmother in the world!
She is cheered wherever she goes.
She is probably the busiest and most hard-working great-grandmother in the world!
Do you know what she does?
First of all she is a mother to Charles, Anne, Andrew and Edward.
Even though they are grown ups now, with children of their own.
Prince Charles and his sons Prince William and Prince Harry.
The Queen opens parliament, and signs the laws made by our MPs.
Every week Queen Elizabeth has a meeting with the Prime Minister.

The Queen welcomes important visitors from other countries…
The Queen and Prince Philip with President Obama of America and his wife Michelle.
… and travels abroad to tell people about our country.

It’s her Diamond Jubilee - time for a party!
On June 3rd The Queen and her family will be rowed down the River Thames by 18 oarsmen on the Gloriana. They will be followed by 1,000 small boats.
On June 4th the Diamond Jubilee concert will be held in front of Buckingham Palace.
2,012 beacons will be lit.
On June 5th The Queen will ride in a carriage procession to a service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral…
… and mums, dads and children will have an extra day’s holiday!
