About Consumer Reports
Consumer Reports is a magazine produced by an independent, nonprofit organization whose mission
is to work for a fair, just, and safe marketplace for all consumers and to empower consumers to protect
themselves.
Their purpose is to provide a reliable source of information that consumers can depend on to help
them distinguish hype from fact and good products from bad ones.
To further advance its mission, Consumer Reports employs a dedicated staff of lobbyists, grassroots
organizers, and outreach specialists who work with the organization’s more than 600,000 online activists
to change legislation and the marketplace in favor of the consumer interest.

How to Access Consumer Reports
Note: This presentation will guide you on how to
access Consumer Reports with a Naperville Public
Library card, however, your home library may
provide access too. Check with your library to
find out.
Visit www.naperville-lib.org and click on “Adults”
Enter the barcode of your library card where the red arrow points (your barcode is the number on the back of your NPL library card). Next, enter your 4 digit pin below to get access to the database.
The pin is often the last 4 digits of your phone number. If you do not remember your pin though, click on “Forgot Your Pin?” which leads you to the steps to retrieve it.
If you do not have a Naperville Public Library card, go to http://www.naperville-lib.org/content/get-library-card where you can learn how to get one. You can even apply for one online at https://library.naperville-lib.org/selfreg!
