Basketball

• Basketball is a fun sport!• But it can sometimes get wild.

FOUL

• When you accidentally hit or reach someone, it is called a FOUL.

Foul Shots

• When you are fouled by someone else you get two free shots!

Free Throw lineup

• Each team lines up and you get to stand at the free throw line.

• You get two chances to get free points! All you have to do is make the shot.

Focus

• Each of your two shots count as only 1 point.

• Keep relaxed and focus on the basket!

Stance

• The ref will now hand you the ball. Bounce it a few times to get a feel for the ball and when you are ready, get into your shooting stance.

Believe in Yourself!

• Pretend like you see yourself making a shot, focus on the back of the rim.

• Believing in yourself is very important too!

Form• Bend your knees, and use your legs,

core and arms to help you push your shot into the basket!

• It’s okay if you miss the first one, you have another chance coming right up!

Second shot

• For your second shot, do the same thing you did for your first. One of three things are about to happen

1.) Making the shot

• You may make the shot, and if you do, it is okay to celebrate but make sure you get back on defense!

2.) Missing the shot

• You may miss the shot and your team will try to get the ball before the other team.

• If you DON’T get the ball, you better hurry back on defense!

3.) Missing the shot BUT you keep the ball

• If your team does get the ball after your miss, then you remain on offense and get another chance to score!

Careful!

• Be careful to not foul the other team too hard or too much.• You can hurt someone if you foul too hard.• You could be removed from the game for too many fouls, this is

called “fouling out”.

Sportsmanship

• Remember to always be a good sport and shake hands with the other team, even if you win or lose the game!

• It is always important to show respect to our peers.
