How to set up parental controls in Windows 8
INSTALL 3.5 .NET FRAMEWORK USING THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT TO INSTALL WINDOWS LIVE ESSENTIALS (OPTIONAL)
NOTE: Family Safety is built into Windows 8. Therefore it is only necessary to install the 3.5 .Net Framework to install the other features that are still left as part of Windows Live Essentials. There are only three features that most of us will use going forward. They are Microsoft SkyDrive, Windows Live Writer, and Windows Photo Gallery and Movie Maker.
Click the Account picture and scroll down and select ‘Sign out’.
Log on using the Administrator account. Click the Down arrow and scroll right to select the Control Panel.
Click on the ‘Get programs’ link beneath the Programs category.
Click the ‘Turn Windows features on or off’ link along the left side.
Check the first checkbox ‘.NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)’ and click the ‘OK’ button.
Click the ‘Close’ button when the .NET 3.5 Framework has installed.
From here you need to log off as Administrator. Then it goes similar to the way it was in the Windows 7 environment. You may download Windows Live Essentials by typing the URL ‘windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/essentials’. You may then refer to the “How to set up parental controls in Windows 7” presentation for how to run the downloaded setup as Administrator.
SET UP CHILD ACCOUNTS USING THE PARENT/ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT
If necessary, click the Account picture and scroll down and select ‘Sign out’.
Log on using the Parent/Administrator account. Click the Down arrow and scroll right to select the Control Panel.
Click on the ‘User Accounts and Family Safety’ link.
Click on the ‘User Accounts’ link.
Click on the ‘Manage another account’ link.
Click on ‘Add a new user in PC settings’ link.
Click the ‘+’ button to add an account.
Click the ‘Add a child’s account’ link towards the bottom.
Choose whether or not to enter an email address for the account. Click the ‘Next’ button if necessary.
Type the name of the child. Type a password and/or password hint if you want. Click the ‘Next’ button.
Click the ‘Finish’ button. You have set up a child account.
SET UP THE PARENTAL CONTROLS FOR THE CHILD ACCOUNT FROM THE PARENT/ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT
Hold down the Alt key and press F4. This closes the current screen.
Click the ‘User Accounts and Family Safety’ link.
Click on the ‘User Accounts’ link.
Press F5 or click the ‘Refresh’ button if the child account(s) do not display.
Click the child account.
Click the ‘Set up Family Safety’ link.
Click on the user account for the child.
The Family Settings options for the child account are displayed.
Refer to the website below to then adjust the following individual settings for the child’s account:• Web Filtering• Time Limits• Games/Windows Store App

MANAGE SETTINGS ON THE FAMILY SAFETY WEBSITE FROM THE PARENT/ ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT (OPTIONAL)
Log on using the Administrator account. Click the Down arrow and scroll right to select the Control Panel.
Click on the ‘Set up Family Safety for any user’ link beneath Family Safety.
Choose the ‘Manage settings on the Family Safety website’ option.
If your account is not a Microsoft account switch click the ‘Switch to a Microsoft account now’ link.
Click the ‘Connect to a Microsoft account’ link.
Confirm your account password. Click the ‘Next’ button.
Enter your email and password for your Microsoft account. Click the ‘Next’ button.
Type your email to receive your code. Click ‘Next’ button.
Check for a new email. Type the code Microsoft sent to you and click the ‘Next’ button.
Configure your SkyDrive settings if prompted. Click the ‘Next’ button.
Click the ‘Switch’ button to change to a Microsoft account. You now have a Microsoft account.
You can either choose the ‘Manage settings on the Family Safety website’ under Family Safety settings or click the link to the website below. Once you log in click the Help menu for specific information on the following:• Set up Family Safety (To add
