HOW TO INSTALL YOUR AIRCRAFT BATTERY STEP 1 When performing any inspection or maintenance on the powerplant, propeller or that requires turning on the master switch, or pulling the propeller through by hand; treat the propeller as if the ignition switch were on. DO NOT stand, nor allow anyone else to stand, within the arc of the propeller as a loose or broken wire or component malfunction could cause the propeller to rotate.

HOW TO INSTALL YOUR AIRCRAFT BATTERY

STEP 1

• When performing any inspection or maintenance on the powerplant, propeller or that requires turning on the master switch, or pulling the propeller through by hand; treat the propeller as if the ignition switch were on. DO NOT stand, nor allow anyone else to stand, within the arc of the propeller as a loose or broken wire or component malfunction could cause the propeller to rotate.

STEP 2

• When you have finished viewing this presentation, use the “CAPS” program found on the home page of www.apex-inc.biz. Select the proper aircraft battery for your aircraft.

STEP 3

• Remove the necessary cowling, access panels or battery box cover to gain access to the aircraft battery.

STEP 4

• CAUTION: Remove negative (-) wire from battery first by removing wing nut. Battery is marked NEG by battery post.

STEP 5

• Remove positive (+) wire from battery by removing wing nut. Battery is marked POS by battery post.• Remove battery from aircraft.

STEP 6 • Inspect condition of wire terminals at this time. Clean any corrosion from terminal and battery box, if necessary use Permatex SA-8 or equivalent.

• Service new battery by following manufacturer’s directions and install new battery in same position as removed battery. This is a good time to mark the battery with the date for future reference.

STEP 7

• Install positive (+) wire first using new wing nut and hardware. Torque wing nut to manufacturer’s instructions.

STEP 8

• Install negative (-) wire using new wing nut and hardware. Torque wing nut to manufacturer’s instructions.

STEP 9

• For corrosion protection, coat battery terminal with battery protector. (Whip)

STEP 10

• Remove any tools or supplies from the aircraft or engine compartment.

• If removed, reinstall battery box cover, access panels or cowling.

STEP 11

• Perform battery inspection every 90 days. Check condition of terminals and check electrolyte level.

AIRCRAFT BATTERY INSTALLATION COMPLETE
