Step 1: Screw Board to Wall

• It is sometimes possible to pull the skirting board closer to the wall by drilling in some screws.

• The heads of the screws can then filled in over, sanded and painted to leave an invisible finish.

Step 2: Fill Remaining Gap

• If there is still a gap then the solution is to fill it with flexible filler, which is not as brittle as a standard filler.

• Use a caulking gun to apply the filler in a narrow bead above and behind the gap.

Step 3: Smooth Out Filler

• With a spoon, lollypop stick or similar, smooth the bead flush with the top of the skirting board.
