How-To: Export an Address Book from Thunderbird to Outlook

This guide provides detailed instructions on how to export an address book from Thunderbird Mail and
import it into Outlook.
1. In Thunderbird, select Tools > Address Book. This will open a new window.
2. Select Tools > Export.
3. Type in a file name in the File Name field and then select Comma Separated from the drop-down
menu as the file type.
4. Click on the Save button.
5. In Outlook 2007: Go to File > Import and Export…
In Outlook 2010: Click on the File tab, click Open and select Import.
6. Select Import from another program or file, and click Next.
7. Select Comma Separated Values (Windows), and click Next.
8. Click the Browse button and select the location where you saved the comma-separated (CSV) file
exported from Thunderbird. Click Next.
9. Select the folder in Outlook that you’d like to import the Contacts to, and click Next.
10. On the next screen, click on Map Custom Fields…
11. You can map the Thunderbird field names to the Outlook fields in this screen by using your mouse
