• Faith-based communities are trusted messengers

• Reaching out to different cultural/ethnic groups, for example, African-Americans, via a faith-based institution has proven to be successful

• Convened a local Community Stakeholder Group (later named Enroll West Michigan) to promote pooling of resources and outreach to facilitate maximum number of enrollments in each community (Muskegon + Grand Rapids)
• Outreach includes: Enrollment events, neighborhood canvassing, on-site enrollment at libraries, churches and special events
Grand Rapid’s Enroll West Michigan collaborative meeting to discuss outreach strategies
In Muskegon, 3,600 door hangers were put on homes that had patient’s identified as self-pay. The back of the hanger lists everywhere a patient can go for in-person help with enrollment.
