INTRODUCTION
The fear of Coronavirus currently seizes the globe, and face masks are critical in preventing infection. However, the world is running out of these masks due to the epidemic, so using them wisely is essential. As a result, I'm giving ideas on using face masks wisely and how to reuse, disinfect, and dispose of this necessary yet hazardous item.
HOW TO DISPOSE OF A USED MASK? (KEEP IN MIND THAT MASKS
SHOULD BE DISPOSED OF AS MEDICAL WASTE.)
Different bacteria can persist on a worn mask for varying amounts of time. Viruses, according to experts, may last for a few hours to a few days when left exposed. My sincere plea to all of you is that you do not discard used masks indiscriminately in lifts, parks, offices, houses, or open dustbins, since this might constitute a serious health concern to anyone who comes into touch with such masks. Furthermore, some people are scooping them up for reuse, putting their lives in jeopardy. Respiratory secretions on contaminated covers can be disseminated and spread through the air. So, please be considerate.
Cloth Mask (Wash) should be cleaned regularly and then hung to dry.
Surgical Mask (Fold, Tie, Wrap) – It should be removed chin up, with care used to remove it from the strings, and caution not to touch the front section when removing the mask. Please fold the cover in half after removing it so that drips from your lips and nose are not visible. Then, quickly throw the mask in the yellow garbage bag after wrapping it in tissue paper or a polythene bag. Keep the items handy before disposing of them.
N95 Respirator – Hold the edge of the straps linked to the N95 mask before removing it. Don't get your hands on the inside of the respirator. Remove the mask gently so that pollutants are not dispersed on the mask. Place the mask in a zip-lock bag or plastic bag. You may also keep them between usage in a ventilated container, such as a paper bag. Tightly close the bag. Put the plastic bag in the trash pail or biomedical waste disposal facility. Never put on a new mask without first thoroughly washing your hands.
