How to Create Assembly Cloning in NX

How to create assembly cloning:

I want to change the assembly from RRT081420 to RRT081291. 1. First open the assembly drawing (RRT081420_A_DWG) which is the highest level of assembly. Then from menu click Assemblies - Cloning - Create Clone Assembly.

2. Clone Assembly window opens.

3. On the Main tab, click on Add Assembly button.

4. A window appears, from list select the assembly drawing (not the assembly) and click OK.

5. Then click on Exceptions button. Action Exceptions window opens. The Retain option must be selected.

6. Pick all the standard components that you do not want to change.

7. Click on Apply. The selected items will be changed from (Default) to (Retain). Then click on OK.

8. Next click on Naming tab and click on 'Define Naming Rule' button.

9. Naming Rule window opens. Select 'Replace' option.

10. In the Base String insert the original number (old one) without RRT and in the Add/Replace/Rename String box insert the new RRT number without RRT. Then click OK.

11. In the same tab (Naming) click on Browse button (Default Output Directory) and create a new folder with the new RRT Number (RRT081291) and click OK.

12. Return to the Main tab. Tick Dry Run option.

13. Then click on Execute button.

14. Now untick the Dry Run option and click on Execute button again.

15. Now the new assembly with all the RRT components are created in the new folder (RRT081291).

NOTE: Only assembly drawing exists. The rest of the drawings for components are not there. You must copy the old RRT081420 Details to the new folder.
