How to Create a Splatter Box!!An instructional on how to build a Splatter boxfor your classroom.First, Finding the Right boxYour first step is to find the right box. Pick your box based on the age group you teach.Example: I teach Pre-K so I know I need a short boxthat is not too tall.When your picking your box make sure you know it is being set up. Example: My box is set up on a table when I use it.Dont be afraid to ask for donations. Sometimes finding the right box is hard.

Second, Creating your Box

To the left is a picture of what my box looks like. The hole is where the kids put the paint brushes in.

I have taped off the edges for safety. If your students are older than my four year olds then I wouldnt worry.

I taped one side of the box top down and use the other for them to lift up to lay their paper in.

Third, Creating the Inside of the BoxThis shows the inside of my box. My box is double sided with a divider. The divider is cardboard. Your divider could be anything as long as it fits. Make sure your divider is completely sealed off from side to side if its double sided so paint doesnt leak over into the other students paper.

Tips:Use paint brushes with a lot of bristles. This creates big splats of paint on the paper. Use thicker paint. Thin paint does come back out the hole.Painting shirts never hurt.Watch how big your hole is in the box. Too big will result in more paint coming back out at the student.Explain the rules before starting. You dont want a student opening the box to remove paper while another is using it.
