Conventions of Opening Sequences

0This piece of researched helped us as it gave us an introduction to opening sequences and how they work. When we were making ours, we used this to keep in mind what to include so it would be a realistic product.

Analysis of Opening Sequences

0 Similarly, this helped us to know what to include as when analysing real media product, we learnt what was effective for each genre. The opening to “Seven” which I analysed, was very helpful to us and so we ……………………………….. went on to use a soundtrack . that used the same principals .. as they are effective for . thrillers.

Potential Genre Brainstorms

0 These were useful as we thought through all the practicalities of making an opening to each genre so we picked the one which we thought we could produce the best film opening for.

Thriller Conventions

0 Researching thriller conventions was useful because it allowed us to learn about techniques that are commonly used to establish a thriller genre and I think that we were successful in including some in our two minute opening sequence, so when watching the audience would be clear on what genre the film is and the use of these conventions would draw them in.

Thriller Movie Titles and Texts

0 This piece of researched allowed us to analyse real media products and see how they used credits to illustrate the genre. It also gave us ideas on how to make the credits for our film; what fonts to use, what transitions and animations to use etc. Additionally it got use started on thinking of names for our film.

Brainstorm For Our Opening Sequence

0 This piece of research allowed us to refine our ideas and use them to start planning on what to do for our two minute thriller opening. We thought about the practicalities such as what props we had already and how the credits would be used (on objects or ………………………. graphically edited in after . filming). I think this allowed . us to be more organised in . planning to film.

Treatment

0 This allowed us to understand the basis of our film, so we could start working out specifics for the production process. It also gave us a rough idea for a storyboard and the props that we needed.

Mise en Scene Ideas

0 Researching the mise en scene allowed us to get a better idea of what witches are like and what objects they used. This allowed us to find props which would set the scene well. It also gave us costume ideas to make our film as realistic as possible.

Film Production Logos

0 Researching pre-existing film production logos allowed us to see how they worked and how they are similar. We were then able to create our own .. “Abandoned Productions” . logo which similar to .. . “Blumhouse Productions”, ….. reflected the thriller genre …. well.
