How often should you Train Abs?
How often should you Train Abs?
Abs are just like every other muscle in your body and need rest in
between exercise sessions as well.
Training your abs at the end of each workout will leave your midsection in a constant state of fatigue making it harder to achieve the results you are
looking for.
To Prevent overtraining and maximize results
• Hit your core 2-3 times a week post
workout
• Include a variety of exercises including
planks, wood chops and rollouts
• Include compound exercises that
engage the core such as deadlifts and
front squats
Here are 5 effective exercises for you to try after your next
gym workout
Complete 3-4 sets of each exercise aiming for
10-12 reps
1. Russian TwistsGrab a medicine ball, dumbbell or plate and sit on the
floor with your hips and knee’s bent 90 degrees.
Introduce a new section here.
With your back straight, hold the weight in front of you and twist your torso as far as you can to the left and
then reverse the motion to the right. That’s 1 rep.
2. Swiss Ball crunchSit on a Swiss ball with your feet on the floor shoulder width apart. Slide down until your back is resting flat
on the ball.
Pull in your belly button and lift your shoulders off the ball
If you usually get lower back pain when doing sit ups this is a great alternative for working the upper abs
3. V-sit crunchesSit on the floor with your hips and knee’s bent 45 degrees and your arms outstretched to the sides.
Bring your knees in as close to your chest as you can at the same time folding your arms around your knees. Return back to the start position to complete 1 rep.
4. Oblique static hold
Lie on your right side with your left leg on top of the right and use your right arm to support your head.
Raise both legs off the ground and hold for 45 seconds (or as close to this as you can). Repeat on the opposite
side.
5. Table top crunches
Lie flat on your back with your hips and knees bent at 90 degrees
Pull your belly button in and raise your shoulder off the ground. Return to the start position.
