Our clients cite the following benefits of working with us:

• Reducing both incidence and seriousness of illness. No malaria deaths have occurred on our watch.

• Improving worker productivity. Our company’s efforts in Chad with a ‘super major’ oil company resulted in an 83% reduction in lost workdays due to malaria.

• Developing local content--helping clients meet national content contract requirements and empowering locals to continue protecting their communities from malaria.

• Eliminating costly project delays due to malaria and other vector-borne diseases. (One ‘super major’ lost 13 million dollars in a one-day safety shutdown.)

• Reducing environmental risks with safe and effective pesticide selection plus targeted treatment for ecologically sensitive areas. We have a perfect safety track record.

Case: Malaria Control Program in Chad

• Since 2006, MZI has been protecting workers in 3 remote drilling and production camps which have housed up to 2,000 workers.

• The year before MZI arrived, the client had 652 semi-immune malaria cases and 23 non-immune cases, including 2 ex-pat deaths. Operational problems included absenteeism, lost time and lost profits.

• In 2010 after 4 years with MosquitoZone, they experienced only 4 non-immune cases, 145 semi-immune cases and no deaths, for an overall reduction of 83% in cases.

Case: Risk Assessment in Mozambique

• When our client began their first major overseas development, MZI assessed their risks from mosquito-borne and other diseases

• The first 150 employees deployed were experiencing a malaria infection rate as high as the local population due to low awareness of risks and little protection from mosquito bites

• In addition to identifying disease vectors, MZI ran education sessions, demonstrated bite protection, performed IRS treatments on all camp buildings, and provided a 40-page illustrated report to management

Case: Program Audits in Ghana, Uganda, Kenya, Mauritania, Ethiopia

• This project began with a comprehensive review of the corporate malaria policy and program, with comparison to industry best practices.

• Now our client’s camps in five African countries receive regular onsite audits of vector control and personal protection systems, training processes and resources.

• The audit reports include in-depth feedback on internal capacity building, malaria case tracking, usage of diagnostics and personal protection, as well as safe pesticide handling. These reports become touchstones for local management.
