Malachi 4:4-6

4 “ Remember the Law of Moses, My servant,       Which I commanded him in Horeb for all Israel,

With the statutes and judgments.        5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet

Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD.

6 And he will turn       The hearts of the fathers to the children,

And the hearts of the children to their fathers,

Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”

Acts 1

1 The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach, 2 until the

day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the

apostles whom He had chosen, 3 to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many

infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the

kingdom of God.

You've got a little over one month...

...what do you say?

...how would you listen?

4 And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem,

but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with

the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”

Page 11: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time

restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit

has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and

to the end of the earth.”

The question in verse six is asked after one month with the best teacher in all of history.

It is asked after 40 days of instruction on one issue; the kingdom of God.

It is very intelligent.

It also represented centuries worth of Jewish hope.

Page 13: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

It should represent your hope, your motivation, your passion.

One day, it may be your home.

Was the entry triumphal?

"Thy Kingdom come..." Mt. 21:1-3

1 Now when they drew near Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the

village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Loose them and bring them to Me. 3 And if anyone says anything to

you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’

and immediately he will send them.”

"Thy Kingdom come..." Mt. 21:4-5

4 All this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying:

5 “ Tell the daughter of Zion,

‘ Behold, your King is coming to you,      Lowly, and sitting on a donkey,

A colt, the foal of a donkey.’” (Zech. 9:9)

"Thy Kingdom come..." Mt. 21:6-8

6 So the disciples went and did as Jesus commanded them. 7 They brought the donkey and the colt, laid their clothes on them, and set Him on

them. 8 And a very great multitude spread their clothes on the road; others cut down branches

from the trees and spread them on the road.

"Thy Kingdom come..." Mt. 21:9

9 Then the multitudes who went before and those who followed cried out, saying:

“ Hosanna to the Son of David!

‘ Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!’

Hosanna in the highest!”

Page 19: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

"Thy Kingdom come..."

"Hosanna" = "Help" or "Save, I pray"

Also acquired the meaning of

"a shout of praise or adoration"

Contains the idea of both.

"Thy Kingdom come..." Mt. 21:1-9

37 Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a

loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen, 38 saying:

“‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the

highest!”

25 LORD, save us!    LORD, grant us success!

26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of the LORD.

 22 The stone the builders rejected    has become the cornerstone;

23 the LORD has done this,    and it is marvelous in our eyes.

24 The LORD has done it this very day;    let us rejoice today and be glad.

Waiting for the repentance of Israel

Rev. 19:11-16

11 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful

and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war. 12 His eyes were like a flame of fire,

and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.

Page 27: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

13 He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and

clean, followed Him on white horses. 15 Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He

should strike the nations. And He Himself will rule them with a rod of iron. He Himself treads the

winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Page 28: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

And He has on His robe and on His thigh a name written:

KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

He's not a baby anymore!

And, He's coming back. This time, as the King!

If Jesus and the Apostles preached to people about the Kingdom of God, shouldn't

we learn about it and teach it to others?

Page 31: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

If the Jesus and the Apostles were motivated and lived for the Kingdom,

shouldn't we be?

How do we get in to the Kingdom?

By believing in Christ for eternal life

John 3:1-16

Page 33: How it began... Gen. 1:26 How it ends... Rev. 22:5 What happens in between...

Our future in the Kingdom can be enhanced.

Rom. 8:16-17

But that is only by the resurrection power of Christ.

And that comes next week...
