What is a snack?A snack is a food that is prepared from flour, this flour passes through a machine called Extruder.a snack can be sweet or salty and its form is varied.An example of snack is the Cheese puffs or in Spanish called chisito
What is an Extruder?An Extruder is an machine that is able to do a process called "Extrusion"
What is the Extrusion?The extrusion (in foods) is a process, in this process the Extruder compresses a food and does a semi solid mass that then, is forced to passing through a hole of specific geometry.
Parts of an ExtruderHopper: The flour is placed in this deposit.Cylinder: through of this compartment the flour enters in the Extruder and The extrusion is does. Here is the screw.Head: Device, usually mobile, located at the end of the extruder used to put on it the part that performs the principal function. This between the cylinder and the nozzle.Nozzle: It is a place where they exit the product, its function is to give shape to snack.Electrical resistances: its function is to oppose the passage of current.Screw: is a long cylinder that it have helicoidal knives, its function is spin up, mix and move the flour until nozzle.
Types of ExtruderThere are lots of types of extruder, but in foods, the most used is the "Extruder of Screw".The Extruder of Screw is classified in:Extruder of simple screw or single screw: It has only one screw.Extruder of double screw: It has two screws.
Types of ExtrusionThe extrusion process is classified in:Cold Extrusion: the temperature does not rise, only the pressure is increased; It is generally used to make sausages and noodles. Hot Extrusion: It is made with high temperature and high pressure, It is used to make snacks, cereals, etc.
How is made a snack?Make a snack is not easy, you should take the following steps:Make formulations with the flour, the sweetener or salt.Programming the extruderPour the flour mixture with sweetener or salt in the extruder.Packaged Sell
