How effective is the combination of your main
product and ancillary texts?
Like most films of any genre the film itself relates to both the magazine front covers it
appears on as well as it film poster. Therefore when creating both my film poster and
magazine I combined a lot of the film itself into both products.
Trailer;
Magazine Front Covers;
Poster and Trailer;
I made It so as the three main
characters were in the movie poster to represent who the
movie is based around.
The picture on the poster represent the characters the actors play. Albey is a
geek and Sadey is in love with Jack which is shown in the movie trailer.
The use of bright bold colours on the poster were inspired by the
titles used in my trailer, each title is a different colour just like the film
poster sections.
The font used on the poster for
‘JUST JACK’ is the same one used at
the end of the movie trailer. This
is a bold catch font.
The dance trousers Jack wears in the trailer represents that he loves to dance, therefore I
found using it on the magazine front cover would
represent not only Jacks personally but the film itself.
Again like the film poster I wanted include the main
characters on the magazine front cover. Therefore I
used Jack as the main photo and a small photo of Sadey just to represent the movie
more.
Magazine and Trailer;
On the magazine front cover both the photos are of the actors in character
Cleary linking the magazine with the film.
Magazine and Trailer; The main way I connected the movie trailer with the
magazine front cover was through the character Sadey and the love she has for Jack
the main character in the trailer. The two clips from the trailer are the two that show
Sadey’s love for Jack.
The way I have represented love on my magazine front cover is by making
in the Valentine special and the
colour red I used.
The main picture used on the magazine front cover is Sadey in character, this links the magazine with the film a lot more clearly.
This magazine front cover relaters perfectly
to the poster front cover mainly due to the characters I have used on both. Instantly this
links them both as being part of the film ‘Just
Jack’.
This magazine front cover was created for a male audience so our main colours used
where very stereo typical male colours just like the ones used on our film poster. Behind both male characters we used a blue and a green to represent them as
boys the way we used blues and black on the magazine front cover.
I linked the strap line on the film poster ‘The dance floor will never be the same again’
instantly showing the film is about dance with the dance trousers and the disco ball
representing the movie is about dance in the magazine front
cover.
Poster and magazine;
The main female character is used on both the film poster and the magazine front cover showing her role in the movie as well as making her known as an actress.
This magazine front cover is created for a female
audience which is shown mainly through the colours used (red mainly). Pinks and
reds are stereotyped as girlie colours, i used pink to
represent Sadey as the female character in my film
poster.
A lot of the strap lines used on my magazine front
cover were connected with love ’valentine
special’. Sadey is covered with love hearts on the film
poster again representing love.
This is another way I linked both
the magazine front cover and the film poster.
