How does your media product represent particular social
groups?
AGE• What is the age group you are representing? Young, teenage girls 11-15.
- The use of the colour PINK reinforces stereotypes of young girls.
- The context of the magazine, for example ‘12 of the most embarrassing celebrity moments’ is something that young teenagers would want to read.
THIS WILL ATTRACT A PARTICULAR SOCIAL GROUP OF YOUNG TEENAGE
GIRL AGED 11-15.
GENDER• What gender are you trying to represent?
GIRLS.
-The colour PINK is a common representation of girls which is why I have constantly used it throughout my POP magazine.
-The pink hearts for the background of my contents page also represent a GIRLs as they are a symbol which represents girls much more than boys.
THIS WILL REPRESENT A SPECIFIC GENDER WHICH IS GIRLS.
RACE• What RACE are you trying to represent?
White British
-The reason why I chose to represent White British as the main stereotype for my magazine is because this is the main race that is represented throughout POP music.
-The model I have used definitely represents this race as she is a stereotypical white, British girl.
THIS WILL REPRESENT A SPECIFIC RACE WHICH IS WHITE BRITISH.
OVERALL• What kind of social group have you represented OVERALL?
Young teenage, white British girls aged 11-15
-Throughout my magazine I have tried to represent a stereotypical social group that has been represented through:• Body language: how my main model is acting.• Dress: what she is wearing e.g. makeup• Colour: e.g. pink is symbolic of girls.
ALL OF THESE CONVENTIONS ATTRACT THIS PARTICULAR SOCIAL
GROUP AS WELL AS REPRESENT THEM .
