You will find the position to be challenging and exciting, and one that offers many opportunities for a fulfilling career at AAU. All applicants are encouraged to attend one of the following Informational Sessions to learn more about the RA/SRA position. For the SP 2019 Semester Consideration, Informational Sessions will take place at 7:00PM in the following locations: Monday, Sept 17 th , Wednesday, Sept 19 th , & Friday, Sept 21 st : 79 New Montgomery, Theater Tuesday, Sept 18 th , & Thursday, Sept 20 th : 620 SutterSt., Theater The Application and Review Process will take place in three (3) phases: Phase 1: Receipt of all application materials by deadline: 5:00PM, Monday, October 8 th . Phase 2: Group Process Interview – Saturday, October 13 th (by invitation) Phase 3: Individual Interview Process – Monday, October 22 nd – Friday, November 2 nd - REQUIREMENTS - Candidates MUST meet the following minimum criteria: Be enrolled in at least 9 undergraduate units or graduate units per semester throughout the duration of employment (The Senior Resident Assistant position is reserved for graduate students or staff members with a minimum of four academic semesters as a Resident Assistant.) Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 at time of application, and maintain throughout employment Be in good financial standing with AAU and not have a record of AAU or Housing Department disciplinary action at the time of application or employment All application packets will include: a completed application, an optional letter of recommendation* (Required for students applying for SRA position), and unofficial transcripts. Must submit a COMPLETED application (PDF format) via email to the RA Selection Committee at [email protected]by 5:00pm on Monday, October 8th in order to be considered for the Spring 2019 Academic Semester. Final placement decisions with regard to community and building are made after the completion of the application and individual interview. Participation in all aspects of the selection process does not guarantee a Resident Assistant/Senior Resident Assistant position, but it is imperative that all RA/SRA applicants are available for their chosen scheduled interview time.

1. Creative Component Please create an expressive piece of art that showcases who you are as a person, and answers the question: "What does the position mean to you?"
A. You will be able to use any type of art form to express your understanding and passion for the Resident Assistant position. Examples of creative components can be in multimedia videos, storyboards, paintings, sculptures, music, fashion pieces, etc.
B. You will be asked to present your creative component at your individual interview. This presentation should take no
longer than 5 minutes.
C. SRA Applicants: Additionally, please explain how your previous work experience (volunteer work and internships included) will aid you in your position as a Senior Resident Assistant. What goals do you wish to accomplish or learn with this position?
2. Recommendation Letter (RA Optional/ SRA Required)
Your RA application may include one (1) optional letter of recommendation.
Students applying for the Senior Resident Assistant position must include one letter of recommendation along with all other documents. The recommendation letter must be submitted as a PDF to the RA Selection e-mail ([email protected]). Please note: Relatives are not allowed to write letters of recommendation.
3. Unofficial Transcripts Each RA/SRA applicant must provide a copy of their unofficial Academy of Art University transcript and/or an unofficial transcript from the most recent institution attended. Transcripts can be obtained by visiting the Registrar office on the 3rd floor at 79 New Montgomery or online through your Student Self Service. Spring 2019 Process: APPLICATIONS MUST BE TURNED IN BY October 8th!
Phase 1: Eligible applicants will be contacted via email no later than Wednesday, October 10th if they meet the minimum requirements and will be invited to participate in Phase 2: Group Process Interviews.
Phase 2: Group Process will take place on Saturday, October 13th
Phase 3: Dependent on performance during Group Process, applicants may be invited to participate in Individual
Interviews.
