Housemaster’s Words

The Lent term always seems to fly by; it only seems like yesterday we were still in the depths of winter with the long nights,

cold and miserable weather. Long leave always seems to be the tipping point, spring arrives and the mood around Loveday

lifts. We have had another busy term, academically; our exam year groups have worked well preparing for the summer and

everyone has settled into a steady work routine. Our House sports teams have performed very well, winning 3 out of the 8

cups available this term. The charity weekend was a fantastic fun and I now have a new favourite sport—Battle Archery! I

wish everyone a happy Easter break, and hope all of the exam year groups can get some good revision done.

Academic House Events Round-up Senior Debating The motion for the debate was 'This house believes the UK should protest the presidency of Donald Trump'. Loveday proposed the motion. In a close run competition Loveday narrowly lost out to very well prepared South team. Commiserations to the team (Chris Jachens , Dan Evans and myself) and well done to Will Mundy and Hugo Fortescue for the help and planning and organizing the debate.—Joe Mellor

House Bouldering— Champions

Loveday won house bouldering for a second year in a row. The team consisted of myself (Cam Stather), Harry Man-

ning and George Chilcott. We achieved a combined score of 368, Runners up scored somewhere in the region of

340, so we won by a landslide. In the individual competition I came 2nd with a score of 140, Harry came in 3rd with a

score of 127 and George scored 101. Really good effort from the team special mention to George as this was his

debut house bouldering competition and to do so well is just an outstanding effort— Cameron Stather

The junior house cross country was a huge success for the house. Loveday were the first house to have

everyone finished and, as a result, had us finish in first place over 70 places ahead of Cubitt in second.

Third were North, and fourth were East. Those from Loveday in the top 10 were: James Walker (1st

15:45), Mark Walker (5th 18:04), Oliver Clift (6th 18:14) and Alex Hughes (9th 19:37). The race was over a

course that took the runners round the school on a 4.76km run. Everyone gave their everything and it

was a great event.

Stoneset. A tournament of resilience, decisiveness and perse-

verance. Three characteristics each and every Loveday partici-

pant carried throughout the competition; therefore coming

away with a commanding first place and 100% win record.

Nothing but energy, passion and intensity was shown

throughout each match with a strong team and work ethic

from everyone; even from those who may not always repre-

sent the house at sport. Overall, a brilliant afternoon with a

seriously strong contingent of Loveday boys supporting—Ben
