Base Steel Type Minimum Yield Strength (MPa) G-Continuously heat treated and hot-dip coated
A number indicating strength in Megapascals
(c) The Coating Class
Zinc Coating Total Grams / Metre Square Z = Zinc AZ = Aluminium Zinc ZF = Zinc + Iron
A number indicating total weight of coating.
Example: Zinc Hi-Ten G450Z350 = Continuously heat treated and hot-dip coated Zinc coated product with a minimum strength of 450Mpa and a nominal total coating of Zinc weighing 350-grams/square metre. (175 grams OF COATING each side).
BHP Formable grades are identified by a second character, (G1, G2, orG3) to indicate progressively better formability, and sometimes a letter to signify additional specifications 1 = Profiling grade N = Non ageing 2 = Commercial forming S = Skin passed 3 = Drawing A = Annealed EG: G2 Z275 = Commercial Forming quality, with a total coating of 275grams/ square metre. “Standard grade” Galvanised sheet and coil product stocked by Smorgon Sheet Metal Supplies is;
