Requirements
• Art 1
• We highly recommend that students take multiple art classes before hand:
• to develop technique• to build a body of work they can use in the
portfolio• to explore media and creativity• to gain a basic understanding of art history that
influences art• to gain a basic knowledge of artists that
influence art
What is AP Studio Art?
• For students who are serious about art• Has a portfolio sent to the College Board • Colleges give credit for a score of 3 or better typically• A structured course that requires discipline on the
student part• Facilitated by the teacher• 3 types of Studio art AP classes
Our goal is for all students to submit a portfolio and have a passing score to be successful.
What are the benefits of AP Art?
• Facilitated Instruction with qualified teacher• Opportunity for Artistic Growth• Creation of an impressive body of work• Development of their own style/content• Sense of accomplishment• College credit / class credit
What does one submit to the College Board instead of a test?
A portfolio and a short response
