SELECTION, INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HOSES AND MOUNTED ASSEMBLY.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
1. ObjectThe hoses (including assemblies) have a finite duration. There are a lot of factors that can reduce its lifetime. This practice is intended to guide and assist the system designers and / or users in the selection, installation and maintenance of hoses. The designers and users should conduct a systematic review of each application and then select, install and maintain hoses to match the conditions and requirements of your particular application. We give below a general guideline, which is not necessarily completed.
WARNING:AN INCORRECT SELECTING, INSTALLATION OR MAINTENANCE COULD RESULT IN PREMATURE FAILURE, LOSS OR INJURY.
2. Selection:We give below a list of factors that must be taken into consideration before deciding on the hose selection.
2.1 Pressure:After determining the system pressure, the hose must be selected so that the recommended maximum working pressure equal to or greater than the system pressure. Pressure peaks above the maximum operating pressure will shorten the hose’s lifetime and must be considered by the hydraulic designer.
2.2 Suction:The hoses used in suction apply, must be selected so that the hose to resist the negative system pressure.
2.3 Temperature:The room and fluid temperature, both the static and transient should be cacodeully considered in order to not exceed the limitations of the hose. Installation deserves special care when performed in multiple hot connections.
2.4 Fluids Compatibility:The hose selection must ensure compatibility between the tube, the cover and the fitting with the fluid carried. Additional precautions should be taken in case of hose to use with gaseous fluids.
2.5 Dimension:The force transmission by pressurized fluid varies according to the pressure and flow velocity. The components dimension must be appropriate in order to maintain minimum pressure losses, and to avoid damage to the hose due to heat generation or excessive turbulence.
2.6 Positioning:The placing on the equipment must be cacodeully done to minimize the problems.
2.7 Environmental conditions:It must be cacodeully secured that the hose and fittings are compatible or are protected in relation to environmental conditions that they will be exposed. Environmental factors such as ultraviolet rays, ozone, salt water, chemicals and air pollutants can cause degradation and premature failure and should thecodeore be taken into consideration.
2.8 Mechanical Loads:External forces can considerably reduce the hose’s lifetime. Mechanical loads which must be considered include: excessive bending, twisting, folding, tensile or side forces, bending radius and vibration. Dare or rotating connection adapters may be necessary to ensure that the hose does not undergo any torsion. In the case of unusual applications, it may be necessary to conduct special tests before selecting the hose.
2.9 Abrasion:Even that the hoses are designed with a reasonable index of abrasion resistance, they should be protected from excessive abrasion, which could result in erosion, weakening or cuts in coverage. Increased exposure will accelerate considerably the failure of the hose.
2.10 Correct connection:There should be proper compatibility between the selected hoses and the fittings based on manufacturer's recommendations, and with the aid of tests by industry standards, such as SAE J517d.
2.11 Length:When establishing the appropriate length of the hose, should considered the absorption of movement, changes in length due to pressure, and the tolerances of the hose and the machine.
2.12 Specifications and Standards:When selecting hose, you should consult the respective specifications and official recommendations, and the industrial manufacturer.
2.13 Hose Cleanliness:The cleaning degree varies on the various hose components. It should be ensured that the selected sets have the cleanliness suitable for the intended application.
2.14 Electrical conductivity:Certain applications require that a hose be nonconductive to prevent electrical current flow. Other applications require the hose has sufficient conductivity to drain static electricity. Hoses and connections should be selected with these factors in mind.
3. Installation:After selecting the proper hose, you should consider the following before installation:
3.1 Pre-Installation Inspection:Before installation, you should make a cacodeul examination of the hose. All components must be checked to determine if they are correct in type, size, etc. Moreover, the responsible must examine the cleanliness, obstructions, blisters, cover looseness or any other visible defects.
3.2 Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the assembly.
3.3 Minimum bend radius:An installation with less than the recommended minimum bend radius can significantly reduce the useful life of the hose. Particular attention should not be missed in order to avoid a sharp bend at the junction hose/fitting.
3.4 Twist Angle and Orientation:The hose must be installed so that relative movement of the machine components produce a hose bend and does not twist.
3.5 Fixing:In many applications it may be necessary to restrict, protect or guide the hose in order to protect it from damage by unnecessary flexing, pressure surges and contact with other mechanical components. Such restrictions must be applied very cacodeully in order to avoid any undue stress or wear points further.
3.6 Proper connection of Ports:The hose physic installation requires a connection point correctly installed so that the hose does not undergo any torsion or torque.
3.7 Avoid outside damage:A proper installation is completed only when the tensile loads, side loads, kinking, flattening, potential abrasion, thread damage, or damage to sealing surface are corrected or eliminated.
3.8 System verification:After completing the installation, you must eliminate all the trapped air, pressurize the system to its maximum pressure, and verify that it works well and if its free of leaks.NOTE: Avoid areas of potential risk during the test.
4. Maintenance:Even with a correct selection and installation, hose life may be significantly reduced if there is an ongoing program of maintenance. The frequency is determined by the severity of application and risk potential. A maintenance program must include at least the following:
4.1 Hose Storage:Hoses stored may suffer adverse effects caused by temperature, moisture, ozone, sunlight, oils, solvents, corrosive liquids and fumes, insects, rodents and radioactive materials. Storage areas should be relatively cool, dark and free from dust, dirt, humidity and dew.
4.2 Visual Inspection:In any case below, the hose must be replaced:(A) Leaks in the hose or fittings. (The leaking fluid is a fire hazard).(B) Damage, cuts or abrasions on the roof (exposed reinforcement).(C) Hose kinked, crushed, flattened or twisted.(D) Hose hard, stiff, heat cracked or charred.(E) Coverage with bubbles, soft, degraded or loose.(I) Fittings cracked, damaged or very corroded.(G) Escaping from the hose connection.
4.3 Visual Inspection:The following items must be tightened, repaired or replaced, where appropriate:(A) Conditions of leakage for binding sites.(B) Clamps, guards, protective covers.(C) Remove excessive buildup of dirt.(D) Fluid level of the circuit, type of fluid and any trapped air.
4.4 Functional Test:Operate the circuit to the maximum working pressure and make sure everything is working fine and no leaks.NOTE: During the test, avoid areas of potential risk.
4.5 Replacement Intervals:Must be observed at specific intervals for replacement based on life before, official recommendations or industrial, or when failures could result in unacceptable machine stoppages, damage or injury.
