School LAND Trust Program: Current Year (FY 2012) The School LAND Trust Program, established by the

legislature in 1999, distributes the “annual dividend” from the permanent State School Fund through school districts and charter schools for all public schools in the state. Elected parents, elected teachers, and the school’s principal serve on School Community Councils. School Community Councils in each school prepare a plan to address the school’s greatest academic need. Local School Boards approve the plans, and funding is sent to each school with an approved plan before the school year begins. The program is paperless and visible on the web www.schoollandtrust.org.

In 2011 Horizonte was awarded federal money, to be used over a 3-year period, for the purpose of increasing student skills in math and language arts.

Improvement will be measured by pre and post testing each session, CRT results, graduation rates, credits earned, etc.

What is a School Improvement Grant (SIG)?

Formative assessments (math and LA) each term provided specific information to teachers about student progress and needs. They also provided growth results for students all year, not just those taking the CRT. From 53% to 82% of students showed growth each term.

Students at all sites received counseling services.

Graduates increased from 135 to 190 (41% increase).
