THOUGHTS FROM YOUR PRESIDENT……..
Here it is July, with the year half over already! A couple
more
of our great events are behind us now. I’m talking about
Bar-bara Gattuso’s salt water trip to Costa Rica . I understand
that
it was great fishing and a good time was had by all.
Then there was the Italian Feast on June 27th, chaired by Ron
and Loretta Casapulla. Along with their crew, they served up
some of their delicious sausage sandwiches and pasta, along with
all the desserts brought by many of the ladies for our en-
joyment. The 50-50 drawing was enjoyed by all.
On August 8th, we have our annual Summer Picnic with free Hot
Dogs and Hamburgers. Sign up at the next meeting with
our chairmen, Jim and Mary Roy. Ladies, if you would do your
magic and whip up one your favorite desserts to bring along we
would all appreciate it.
You campers don’t forget to sign up for the June Lake
campout,
September 9th to 15th, with Wagon Masters Gene and Margie
Lovelady. It’s just around the corner and they are needing a
headcount ASAP.
At our next General meeting on July 21, we’ll have the manag-er
of Lake Cuyamaca and some his rangers speaking to us. I
hope to see you all there.
P.S. Some more good news; we now have our Turkey Fry
chairmen! Cheryl Brandstrom and Will Cozzens will handle the
picnic and Gene Ervin and Roy Rogue will be in charge of the
Silent Auction. My thanks to all of you for stepping up to the
challenge.

SALT WATER
“FISH AND PLAY THE SENIOR ANGLER WAY”
Barbara Gattuso Vice President
The Bluefiin and Yellowtail have been biting on overnight boats.
It's time to go
fishing!!!
All the 11/2 day trips are full, but will take standbys. The Oct
12-15 two and a half day trip has 4 spots left. They won't last
long. Call
Paul Montgomery ASAP at (760)941-9064.
Surf Fishing dates are: July 19 and August 16. Phone Don
Continelli at (760)224-3458 for details.
Our Costa Rica trip was a huge success. Dave Gehrke caught his
first billfish, a
beautiful 85# sailfish, which was released. The 11 anglers
fishing caught enough fish to feed all 18 of us plus the boat
captains, deck hands and hotel staff for 2
days and still take fish home. The hotel was beautiful and side
trips so-o-o much fun!
Gerry Graf will be bringing fresh water tackle to sell at the
meeting. Come and
stock up for the coming trips. He will also bring his men’s
sandals.
The next trip is Cabo Oct 13-18. I have 3 rooms left so call NOW
if you want to go. This year's fishing should be Awesome!!! Don't
miss this one. Call or e-mail
me if you are interested.

Local Fishing
There has been a couple nice fish reported. Stan Kieniewicz
caught a 7 pound 9 ounce Rainbow at Lake Dixon in May, and Terry
Thielen went to Lake Tahoe and
caught a 12 pound mackinaw. Nice fish.
Trip Report
Pinezanita/Lake Cuyamaca: June 10-14
Al and Simone Green hosted another great outing. The weather was
great, food wonderful, and good fishing for the 27 attendees. There
were over 90 trout caught
with several limits, and some bass and crappie. Will Cozzens
caught a nice 3 pounder the first day, but was beat out by Don
Hunter who caught a whopper. A 9 pound 2
ounce rainbow. Don was so pleased, he’s having it mounted. When
he gets it back, we will have to have him bring it in and show us.
Congratulations Don! Jim Stevenson
has volunteered to be Wagon Master for next years Pinezanita
trip. It will be a little
earlier next year. Jim has booked the week of May 5.
Upcoming Trips
June Lake, Sept. 9-16
Gene and Marge Lovelady are taking signups. Many regard this as
their favorite of the year, with lots of lakes and streams to fish
with great hiking and scenery. Be sure
and go on this one. Pinezanita/Lake Cuyamaca. Oct.21-26
Larry and Betty Allen are taking reservations now. It’s a good
campout with only a short drive. Usually good fishing with a chance
for a big one (ask Don Hunter).
