04 | ISLANDS OF INDIAN OCEAN
The Maldives are an archipelago of numerous small islands located
in the Indian Ocean in an Equatorial position to the southwest of
India. Hailed as an idyllic tropical haven this secluded island
formation has in recent years established a reputation as a delightful
luxury holiday location attracting leisure travelers and
honeymooners from many parts of the world.
The 26 Maldives atolls are scattered across an expanse of about
90,000 square kilometers, making the island nation one of the most
geographically expansive nations in the world. However the islets
numbering 1,190 in total constitute only a tiny proportion of this
immense extent of ocean. The Maldives islands have the distinction
of being Asia’s smallest nation in both land area and population.
The largest city and the capital of the Maldives, Malé is situated on
North Malé atoll. This particular islet has the distinction of formerly
having been the location of the palace of the rulers of the Maldives,
and was known as the King’s Island.
The indigenous people of the Maldives are thought to be descended
from different groups of ethnicities who migrated to the islands in
ancient times. These include settlers from the shores of southern
India and Western Sri Lanka as well as some migrants from more
northern regions of India. The language of the Maldivians is Dhivehi
and the predominant religion is Islam.
Traditionally the economy of the Maldivians has been fishing and
even today the majority of the population is engaged in this pursuit.
Today tourism is a huge source of income for the Maldives, with the
islands’ lovely beaches, shimmering sapphire waters and delightful
climate attracting a steady influx of visitors from abroad. The
Maldives have now become a sought after luxury holiday and
honeymoon destination.

You could spend a lifetime exploring India and never see it all,
which is one of the reasons we love it. Ancient cities dripping with
beauty, tranquil countryside home to interesting wildlife and lush
green tea plantations, buzzing cities, colourful festivals, delicious
food; India appeals to all the senses.
If you’re looking to unwind, Kerala is a good choice. From cruising
along the palm fringed backwaters by traditional houseboat to hiking
through tea and spice plantations and enjoying Ayuverdic spa
treatments, you can’t help but relax and ease into a gentler pace of
life. Stylish and affordable boutique hotels and homestays offer
privacy and seclusion, as well as the chance for a little cultural
immersion, such as the opportunity to try your hand at cooking a
Keralan curry with your hosts. Fort Cochin, with its Chinese fishing
nets, colonial architecture and spice markets, makes a pleasant
base for a couple of nights.
The beautiful palaces and ornate architecture of North India are
every bit as beautiful as you imagine. Driving through the
countryside, you’ll pass through picturesque villages where
bejeweled women wear vibrantly colored saris and men herd
camels and work the land. In the bustling city of Jaipur, you can
stay in a grand Maharani’s palace or perhaps a heritage haveli

and privacy that will reinvigorate and re-
energize you after the excitement of the
Vietnamese cities. The stylish wooden
villas all have private infinity pools and
dreamy sea views. 14 | ASIA
Between its mountains, beaches, booming cities and cultural
diversity, you’re bound to find something that tempts you in
Vietnam. In addition, there’s a wealth of hotels, including large
world-class resorts and more individual and affordable boutique
options to choose from. As a long thin country, it makes sense to
travel north to south or vice versa, topping and tailing your journey
with the two contrasting cities of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
Southeast of Hanoi is the remarkable natural wonder of Halong
Bay, where the mystical limestone rock formations – which legend
tells were formed by a dragon’s breath – form a beautiful backdrop
to an overnight cruise on a traditional wooden junk.
Surrounded by jungle-topped mountains and with fabulous views of
the shimmering East Sea, the spectacular sandy bays of the central
coastline are conducive to beachside relaxation. Whether the stylish
Nam Hai on the edge of Hoi An, or somewhere more remote such
as Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, we have lots of hotel suggestions up
our sleeves.
The southern highlights include the buzzing and cosmopolitan city
of Ho Chi Minh. Wide boulevards and French colonial buildings
house world famous restaurants, designer boutiques and energetic
nightlife. The Cu Chi tunnels further south give an insight into the
life of the Viet Cong, and the Mekong Delta is the place for a cruise

One of the most romantic cities in the world, Paris is characterized
by Baroque architecture, beautiful gardens, bustling pavement
cafes, excellent museums and fabulous shopping. Just like Cole
Porter, we “love Paris in the spring time”; dappled sunshine
brightens the mood, the heady scent of blossom fills the air, and
café culture bursts into life.
Paris is home to many flagship stores, including Louis Vuitton,
Chanel and Dior, as well as plenty of jewelers on the Rue de la
Paix. If that sounds a tad daunting, we’ll arrange a personal
shopper to help you navigate Cacharel, Alexander McQueen
and Lacroix to name just three. An expert industry guide could
also take you to the haute couture fashion houses and the
Yves Saint Laurent Foundation – which is closed to the public –
where you can see the archives of this iconic designer.
Food is practically a religion in France, and a food walk allows you
to soak up the atmosphere of the city while a restaurant critic leads
you behind the scenes at some of the best food suppliers, from a
world-renowned boulangerie to a chocolatier trained by the very
best.
If you’d like to explore the countryside just outside Paris, we’ll

Switzerland is a landlocked Alpine country in Western Europe.
This small multi-lingual country, of a little over 7.5 million people,
has four national languages, German,[3] French, Italian, and
Romansh. Switzerland comprises three basic topographical
areas: the Swiss Alps, the Swiss plateau, and the Jura Mountains
along the northwest border with France.
The Alps boast a high mountain range running across the central-
south of the country. Among the high peaks of the Swiss Alps, the
highest of which is the Dufourspitze at 4,634 metres (15,203 ft),
are found countless valleys, many with waterfalls and glaciers.
From these the headwaters of several major European rivers
such as the Rhine, Rhône, Inn, Aare, and Ticino flow into the
largest Swiss lakes including as Lake Geneva, Lake Zürich, Lake
Neuchâtel, and Lake Constance. The smaller lakes near the
mountains tend to be a brilliant turquoise colour, especially in the
summer.

while away hours relaxing on your
private patio while enjoying iconic
views, or play a set or two of tennis
before cooling off in the pool. PERIVOLAS TRADITIONAL HOUSES The smooth curves of these three hundred
year old Cliffside caves were once home to
local fishermen. Today, lovingly restored,
they are romantic hideaways offering total
relaxation. Only the occasional toll of
church bells breaks the meditative quiet.
The most westerly of the Cyclades, the beauty of the volcanic island
of Santorini is associated with the misty tales of Atlantis. The white
villages cling to towering cliffs where you can enjoy a sundowner in
one of the world’s most enchanting settings, as the sun sets over
the deep blue Aegean Sea. Santorini receives 300 days of sunshine
each year, and, though Summer is hot, it is when the island is in full
swing.
Clinging precariously to the edge of the enormous caldera, the
island’s main town of Fira is a vibrant, bustling place whose warren
of narrow streets are lined with smart hotels, shops, bars and
restaurants. On the northern tip of the island, the charming village of
Oia is best explored on foot – a stroll through the narrow streets
with your guide will reveal more about the history of the blue domed

AFRO CHIC, KENYA COAST What better way to end a safari than with
some well-deserved relaxation on the
pristine white sands of Diani beach. We
particularly like the peaceful Ocean View
Rooms, where you can wake up to glorious
views of the turquoise Indian Ocean, with
dhows bobbing in the distance.
Kenya’s magnificent landscapes, colourful tribal culture and
incredible wildlife give it a magnetic appeal. A land of snow-capped
peaks, beaches, equatorial forests and rolling savannahs, it offers
endless opportunities for adventure and relaxation. From stylish
bush homes to secluded tented camps and private mobile camping,
accommodation in Kenya is superb: private sundowners, relaxing
spa treatments and sumptuous fine-dining await you.
Kenya’s game reserves are among the best places in Africa to see
‘The Big Five’ – lions, elephants, leopards, buffalos and rhinos. The
deep blue waters of its crater lakes also prove irresistible to a
stunning variety of birds. From the world’s biggest bird, the ostrich,
to flamingos that congregate in vast flocks at the various lakes
of the Great Rift Valley, Kenya’s birdlife is captivating. For jaw-
dropping aerial views nothing beats a balloon ride over the bush,
whilst a walking safari is a great opportunity to see the smaller
things easily missed on game drives. We’re confident to say that
our guides are the best in the business, and they will bring the bush
vividly to life with their stories, insight and depth of knowledge.
During the Summer months the bush springs to life as the drama of
the Great Migration unfolds. One of wildlife’s greatest spectacles,
some 1.4 million wildebeest and Burchell’s zebra make the year
long, round-trip from Tanzania’s Serengeti to the Masai Mara. A
picnic lunch amongst the action brings a whole new meaning to the
term ‘dining al fresco’.

places to watch the sun set, from high

THE PALMS, ZANZIBAR This delightful beach hideaway is distinctly
Zanzibar, with rich silks, vibrant prints and
large traditional wooden doors. We like the
unique beachfront spa, offering fabulous
treatments overlooking the award winning
Bwejuu – Paje beach.
From the vast open plains of the Serengeti to the snow-dusted
peaks of Kilimanjaro and the dazzling white beaches of Zanzibar,
Tanzania has so much to offer. Despite all these draws, it remains
authentic and low key.
The wildlife in Tanzania is incredible; the country is home to big
game, flamingo-filled soda lakes and playful chimps. The
Ngorongoro Crater is like the Garden of Eden; a natural barrier
encircling the wildlife that roams the crater floor, it affords amazing
game viewing. During the winter months, the Great Migration
passes through the southern Serengeti, and many animals give birth
to their young. For the ultimate in privacy, we’d recommend a night
out under the stars at our luxurious mobile camp, which will be set
up in the very best spot for wildlife viewing.
.
Beyond the wildlife, Tanzania has an intriguing culture and several
industries which may be of interest. Tanzanite Jewellery is a big
export, and we can arrange a visit to a jeweler if you would like to
see how the stones are cut, as well as browsing the finished
products.
The exotic island of Zanzibar is an ideal place to end your
honeymoon, with a few days to relax and explore the rich cultural
history of the ‘Spice Island’. Days can be spent reclining on the

To indulge your cultural side, there are numerous museums and
galleries. A visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art is a must, with
the Balcony Bar overlooking the Great Hall perfect for a pit-stop.
Broadway and the Lincoln Center also beckon, and no trip to New
York is complete without visiting the Empire State building
– a bit of a cliché but absolutely one of the most romantic spots in
the city.

MIRAMAR HOTEL BY WINDSOR Designed for those who demand the
best, by Windsor Miramar Hotel
combines elegance, good taste and
elegance in every detail. Located in the
Marvelous City, opposite the
Copacabana beach and steps from
Ipanema. BELMOND COPACABANA PALACE This glamorous landmark is pre-eminent
among the best hotels in Rio de
Janeiro. Since its Art Deco doors swung
open in 1923, Belmond Copacabana
Palace has been welcoming the rich
andfamous.
Rio de Janeiro is one of the liveliest and most beautiful cities in the
world with breathtaking views from Sugarloaf Mountain. Ipanema
and Copacabana beaches may be on everyone's fantasy list, but
there are many others along the coastline that are well worth a visit
during your luxury holiday in Brazil. On the northern coast, the
towns of Ilheus, Natal and Salvador da Bahia come complete with
pristine golden beaches, while south of Rio there are more than a
hundred beaches edging the Atlantic rainforest - it is easy to see
why honeymoons in Brazil are so special.
As well as the buzzing modern cities, your Brazil holiday can take in
the colourful 16th Century Portuguese colonial towns of historical
interest, which can be found in The North. From the diamond and
gold mining towns of Minas Gerais, to the slave trade ports of the
State of Bahia, Brazil's colourful past is clearly evident in its diverse
culture, fine colonial buildings and friendly people.
Brazil is also one of the greatest eco-destinations on earth. The
Amazon is not only the world's longest river, but its basin covers
almost half of Brazil. Further south, on the borders of Paraguay and
Bolivia is the Pantanal - the world's largest wetland area. Here your
holiday to Brazil can provide glimpses of caiman, capybara, jaguar
and anacondas, together with brightly coloured parrots and the
hyacinth macaw. On the borders of Brazil and Argentina, hear the
thunderous roar of Iguaçu Falls. Walk above them on specially
constructed boardwalks or take a boat to one of the lakes to see
them in their full magnificence.
