-I find architecture very interesting because they are what we experience half of our lifetime
-There are many different styles of homes but the two main types of present day are Contemporary and Traditional
-Houses in West Vancouver range from about $700 000-$20 000 000
-The average price is usually about $1.6 million in West Vancouver
-There are also condos and apartments
One type of contemporary architecture that I find interesting is blobitecture
Blobitecture buildings have a very organic shape to them as they are basically blobs
Architect, Greg Lynn was the first to try it 1995
Some blobbed shaped buildings look somewhat odd
Frank Lloyd Wright is a very famous architect Wright is famous for his organic architecture Some of his famous pieces are fallingwater,
the Guggenheim museum, and the Robie House. These are three of about a 1000 projects he worked on
Wright is said to be “The greatest American architect of all time.”
Arthur Erickson is a very famous Vancouverite Architect
The buildings he designs respond to the climate in their area
Erickson's buildings use concrete structure. He was inspired by the first nations use of the post and beam work
Erickson is famous for The Simon Fraser University, The Vancouver museum of Anthropology, and the Canadian embassy in Washington
There are quite a few contemporary homes in West Vancouver
Most contemporary homes use the elements of glass, cement, and wood as shown below
Contemporary homes generally have some feature that traditional homes don’t have
Homes usually go for higher amounts when the house is waterfront or how good the view is
They also go for more depending on the lot size and how prestigious the neighborhood is
The more work is put into the home, or how expensive the material is, the house also goes for more
The features that house has such as a pool, or a home theatre, generally makes the house higher priced
Some houses go for $25 000 000
