The Statistics

• Orange County’s Housing Market is one of the most expensive in the nation.

• Renters must earn at least $29.73 an hour to afford the aforementioned apartment, if rent is not to exceed 30% of their income.

• A single parent working three minimum wage jobs would not earn $61,840.

• In 2009-2010 there were approximately 45,000 homeless people in Orange County including 25,964 homeless children.

Future Goal

• UCI Homelessness Awareness Conference– Food, games, speakers, entertainment– We hope to invite speakers who are

knowledgeable and some that have even come out of homelessness to talk about their experiences.

– We can engage the entire Irvine community and educate them on how to help and interact with the homeless in our county.

– Entry donation: a blanket
