What is homelessness and why does it exist?
• Homelessness= the condition of people without a regular, safe, adequate home.
• Why?– Can’t afford adequate housing– Circumstances- lack of education, family
situation, poverty cycle, substance abuse
History of Homeless World Cup
• Co-Founder: Mel Young
• Year 8 of Homeless World Cup
• Problem=homelessness
• Tool for change= football
Selection Process
• Must be 16 or older.• Not in previous HWC team• Each country sets criteria.
ExamplesFinland: recovering drug addicts &
alcoholics.Philippines: people living in slum areas.South Korea: street paper vendors

Details of Tournament & Game
• 6 divisions playing for 6 trophies
• Length of game- 14 minutes total (2 halves)
• Number of players- 8 total; 4 on court in game
• Playing field- 22 (long) x 16 (wide) meters

• Brazil 10-2• Chile 9-0• Italy 4-2• Croatia 3-4• Argentina 4-5• South Korea 4-14• Germany 6-8• Norway 2-3• Host Cup Final:
