It is obedience of the heart. The word obedience is an excellent word to describe this basic virtue. It comes, as you may know, from the Lan word audiens, which means ‘listening’ (compare audience), with the prefix ob, which means ‘right up against’. We are obe- dient when we are listening right up close. To obey God is to be close to God and to be listening with the intenon of doing what God inspires us to do with all our heart and with joy knowing that God’s will is the most beauful and liberang thing we can do. Saints Of the Week - 21 February
Peter Damian was born to a large but poor Italian family in 1007 AD. He
was orphaned at a young age and was mistreated by an older brother.
He was eventually cared for and educated by another brother who was
an archpriest. He joined a Benedictine monastery where he lived the sim-
ple and strict life of a hermit. Peter was made the cardinal bishop of Os-
tia in 1057 and began many local reforms. He wrote numerous sermons
and biographies, and was a strong supporter of church reforms and dis-
cipline.

An Invitation to Join
the Holy Spirit Music Ministry
Holy Spirit Parish is blessed with several different musical groups of all age levels that
minister each week at our various Masses. Perhaps you have thought about joining
one of our groups but are unsure how….? Perhaps you have wanted to lead your own
group but have been reluctant.
All parishioners who are looking for a way to offer their time and talent by singing or
playing an instrument and worshipping God through the gift of music are invited to
come along to our relaxed and fun practice sessions on Thursday nights 7:00pm at
the church. Our music ministry is a safe place for you to bring your heart and gifts to
God and to tune in and deepen the worship of your heart in a community of
believers.
No time to commit every week? No problem! Even if you can only
join in occasionally, we want to hear from you and get to know
you!
Weekend Masses Choir Practice: Thursdays 7:00pm at the church or one hour
before each Mass with Music.
Children’s Choir: Saturdays 10am at the Church starting
15 February 2020
(during school term).
We know you are busy. However if something stirred deep down as you read this,
