AAA Word From the Pastor
Next Sunday, September 8, the KCA will celebrate their 40th Anniversary at their Noon Mass. KCA parish-ioners invite all HNJ parishioners to the Mass and the reception to follow. Bishop Barres will celebrate the Mass. The KCA has been and IS very generous and helpful to HNJ. They celebrated the 50th and 55th Anni-versaries of HNJ in 2012 and 2017; they happily and generously supported and became involved with the Capital Campaign to update and renovate our Church, and most especially, they love HNJ Church as much we as do. So I'm asking YOU to PLEASE MAKE AN ADJUSTMENT TO YOUR SCHEDULE NEXT SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 8, and to at least come and celebrate the Noon Mass with Bishop Barres and our Korean sisters and brothers, and perhaps stay for fellowship. Please mark your calendars for the 5:15 PM Mass followed by an International Celebration on Saturday, No-vember 9, 2019 at Holy Name of Jesus Church beginning with the 5:15 Mass concelebrated by Father Dami-an (and the parishioners of the Korean Catholic Apostolate), Father John (and the parishioners of St. Mary's Siro-Malabar Church), and Fr. Bauhoff (and the parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus). Immediately following the Mass, a sumptuous buffet will follow in the Parish Hall to celebrate and enjoy one another's company. As you know, Father Damian and Father John reside at the Parish Rectory and both assist by offering Mass during the week. In fact, we've discussed this idea for quite some time. The three us hope that you'll plan to join in the celebration as we gather as sisters and brothers in the Lord. Please watch the bulletin for more information, details and registration. Religious Education Classes resume on Monday, September 16, 2016. Please watch the bulletin for more information. For those parishioners who prefer to donate electronically using charge cards, debit cards etc., please visit the parish website www.hnjchurch.net. You'll see a donate button with a heart. You can use it to make your weekly donations, offerings for Mass cards or memorial donation of the sanctuary candle. If you wish to schedule a Mass or make a memorial donation, you'll need to call the Rectory to schedule a specific date. For those who will utilize this online option, nothing's changed - you will still use the weekly envelopes you receive in the mail and simply write the word electronic on the outside of the envelope and drop the envelope in the basket! The Diocese of Rockville Centre Office of the Charismatic Renewal presents a Night of Praise and Worship on Wednesday, September 4 at 7 pm at the Shrine of Our Lady of the Island, 258 Eastport Manor Rd, Manorville. All are welcome Are you discerning a vocation to the Diaconate? The Office of Diaconate Formation will be conducting 3 in-formation sessions for men and their wives. FOCUS: Jesus was always transparent and genuine in
his words and actions. For times that we have been
hypocritical, pretending to be someone we are not for
our own gain, we ask forgiveness and the grace to let
our actions reflect our wills. In the first reading, a teacher talks about the wisdom of serving God with all humility. In the second reading, we learn that through
the saving death of Jesus we have access to the realms of heaven. In the Gospel, Jesus challenges the Pharisees to
invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, and the blind when holding a lunch or a dinner—not simply friends, neighbors, and relatives. Published by Franciscan Media
