The Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ

THE OBJECTIVES of SMALL GROUPS

For the next several weeks, we’ll use this space to share

some of the intended outcomes of Holy Martyrs’ Small

Groups Ministry.

WE STRIVE TO BE MORE LIKE CHRIST.

“Living the truth in love, we should grow in every way

into him who is the head, Christ, from whom the whole

body, joined and held together by every supporting liga-

ment, with the proper functioning of each part, brings

about the body’s growth and builds itself up in love.”

- Ephesians 4:15-16

Our goal is not to remain the same, but to change –

to become our best selves and to conform our lives

more closely to that of Christ.

A REQUEST FROM OUR APOSTOLIC ADMINISTRATOR

Dear Faithful of the Diocese of Cleveland,

It is only by your prayers and the tremendous

assistance of so many tireless coworkers, that I have

been sustained by the Lord in my duties of

shepherding two dioceses. As I enter the sixth

month of serving as Apostolic Administrator of

Cleveland, I ask you to redouble your prayers that

the Lord may give every grace to fulfill this role.

Please also remember the intentions of Bishop

Richard Lennon in retirement, and of Pope Francis,

as we await his appointment of a new bishop for the

Diocese of Cleveland.

With deep thanks in Christ Jesus,

Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas

A Great Day with Dad

The best gift you can give is your time. This Father’s Day weekend, make sure to invite Dad (and the rest of

your family) to spend time with you at The FEST on Sunday, August 6. The perfect family day, this year’s FREE

event is full of great music — including for King & Country, Crowder, Matt Maher and Laura Story — and a host of fun

activities. Of course, the highlight of the whole day is our Outdoor Mass, beginning at 8:00 pm. You and Dad are not go-

ing to want to miss any of this, so make sure to head out to the Center for Pastoral Leadership in Wickliffe for a day full

of faith, family, friends and fun. Questions? Check out www.TheFEST.us.

Vacation Planning/Attending Mass

The vacation season has begun. Families who want to

make sure they can attend Mass wherever they’re

visiting are encouraged to check out a very helpful

website, www.masstimes.org. It lists Sunday and daily

Mass schedules for parishes throughout the United

States and Canada. And it gives directions to each

church.

Next week, our second collection

will be for Peter’s Pence, which

provides Pope Francis with the

funds he needs to carry out his

charitable works around the world.

The proceeds benefit our brothers

and sisters on the margins of society, including victims

of war, oppression, and disasters. Your generosity is

greatly appreciated. For more information, visit

www.usccb.org/peters-pence.

Everything Belongs (Part II)

From last week… Once you trust your Vital Center then...Divine Incarnation can take the form of an Indwelling Presence in

every human soul and surely all creatures in some rudimentary way. Ironically, our human freedom gives us the ability to

refuse to jump on board our own life. Angels, animals, trees, water, and yes, bread and wine seem to fully accept and en-

joy their wondrous fate. Only humans resist and deny their core identities, which can cause great havoc, and thus must be

somehow boundaried and contained. But the only way we ourselves can refuse to jump onto the train of life is by any neg-

ative game of exclusion or unlove—even of ourselves. When we read the Gospel texts carefully, we see that the only peo-

ple Jesus seems to “exclude” are those who exclude others. Exclusion might be described as the core sin. Don’t waste any

time rejecting, excluding, eliminating, or punishing anyone or anything else. Everything belongs, including you.

(Richard Rohr Reflection—June 1, 2017)
