¡Bienvenidos! Welcome!
Dear parents and Guardians,
I am thrilled that your son/daughter is in my Spanish class this
year. My name is Susana Parodi and I am from Mexico. This is
my fi"eenth year at Holy Family Catholic School, but I have
been teaching in the USA since 1994. I have taught K-12th
Spanish in other Portland school districts and at Portland State
for two years as a Spanish assistant teacher.
The Foreign Language class at HFCS emphasizes oral
skills, with more wri#ng and reading emphasis in fourth to
eighth grade. I believe very strongly that learning a foreign lan-
guage includes more than speaking. Culture is a very important
part of our curriculum. Students will be involved in many differ-
ent ac#vi#es during the school year such as: “Mexico Inde-
pendence Day”, “Day of the Dead”, “Christmas Posadas”,
“Mother’s Day”, “The Interna#onal Fair” and many more
16th (Friday) to celebrate the Independence of Mexi-
co. Children can make their own tor#llas (and parents
too) and enjoy them with salsa, honey or salt.
Time: 3:30pm to 4:00 pm
Place: Celebra#on Hall
All the HFCS community is invited!
P.S. Are you interested in helping with this event? Please
let me know as soon as possible. ¡GRACIAS!
· Peace One Day: “Un día por la paz”. September 21st
the Spanish class will par#cipate in this world event
doing art work about peace.
