DEAR HOLY FAMILY PARISHIONERS: This is the time of year when fall sports are gearing up at our grade schools, high schools, & colleges/universities. Now is the time for practice after prac-tice. The player have to get conditioned for their respective sport & position. They train to be the best they can be. What if we took what we see on the field or court or gym & applied it to our faith lives? Do we PRACTICE our faith as we should? Have we CONDITIONED ourselves to be strong against our opponent, the devil? Are we TRAINING each day to be fit when it comes to our faith health? Are we a TEAM PLAYER who give our lives for the good of the entire team, the Catholic Church? Have we SWEAT in our faith, meaning we have toiled as much as we could/should have? Sports is a big part of our culture & in our country. Sports reign supreme at times. Sports help a lot of young people to mature, be responsible, & learn sportsmanship. Wouldn’t it be great to capture the discipline that sports require & apply it to our Catholic faith? Let us PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE our faith this week & every day. Our TRAINING is on-going. It does not stop at the end of our liturgical seasons. Our GAME PLAN is to get to heaven, isn’t it? May all of us be TEAM PLAYERS as followers of the Lord. YOUR “TEAMMATE,” FATHER JOE P.S. Just think if we could capture the enthusiasm, the commitment, the sacrifice, the giving, & much more to our FAITH as we have for our SPORTS. What a difference it would make in Mass attendance! What a dif-ference it would make as to being a dedicated Catholic follower of Jesus! FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!!! Don’t forget to pray for our 3rd graders as they prepare for 1st Communion & Confirmation, & for our 8th graders seeking Confirmation. Bishop Paprocki will be here on Oct. 27th for these sacraments. This will we the first celebration for us with having the Restored Order of Sacraments—-3rd graders receiving both 1st Communion & Confirmation in the same ceremony. Our diocese has adopted this as policy for all young people, coming from the Diocesan Synod held several years ago.

EPIC, Everything is Possible in Christ, is the name of our Parish Youth Group. The first meeting of the new school year will be on SUNDAY, AUGUST 25TH, at NOON. This is open to ALL HIGH SCHOOL & JUNIOR HIGH HOLY FAMILY STUDENTS. Please mark your calendars & join us. Bring a classmate to have fun for 2 hours. There will be the three F’S involved—-FAITH, FOOD, & FUN!!

PLEASE NOTE: The EPIC Adult Team has been meeting & has come up with really good things for each session during the entire year. You don’t want to miss out on any of it. Come & find out what is in store for the Youth this year at EPIC—Everything is Possible In Christ! If you have any questions, call Deena Warrick at 855-9845 or Diane Couri-Whithaus at 855-9132.

AN ADULT FAITH OPPORTUNITY: This fall our program will be The Bible and the Sacraments, which is a dynamic video-based Bible study that explores the deeply scriptural roots of the sacra-ments. It is unlike any other study on the sacra-ments. Certainly it looks at the basic teaching of the Church as to their meaning and origin, but it goes further. It investigates the deeper mystery of the sacraments as illuminated by Sacred Scripture. Ses-sions will be Sept. 11 thru Nov. 20. Highly recom-mended by a Diocesan parish which had 60 in at-tendance. Registration after Masses August 31/Sept. 1. Participant workbook is $20.00.
