Gold Standard Agriculture

1) Peru: diversification of smallholder rice production by converting part of area into agroforestry: banana/ cocoa & (high value) shade trees

Hivos Pilot projects to test new GSA methodology

2) Nicaragua: farm restoration from degraded land (coffee coop) - soil improvement (compost facility)

3) Indonesia and Kenya: usage of bio-slurry from biogas digester as supreme fertiliser

Gold Standard Agriculture

Add carbon impact of bio-slurry: carbon sequestration in soils

bio-slurry liquid application, dried or composted

Will be first or second GSA project in Africa

Kenya: use of bio-slurry as fertiliser

Africa Biogas Carbon (ABC) PoA and its first Project Activity – KENAFFABC/KENDBIP registered at GS as a Renewable Energy project - focus on use of biogas for cooking.

Measures 2 ER effects:

* replacement of NRB (firewood and charcoal), and * methane avoidance (manure)
