Point Of Light Annual Community Event While in office, President George Herbert Walker Bush called on the nation’s volunteers to aspire to be “A Thousand Points of Light” by rededicating their efforts to make the communities in which we live brighter. In this vein, we at McCarthy Grittinger Weil Financial Group (MGWFG) have instituted our own ‘Point of Light’ award given annually to an individual or individuals who we would like to recognize for their positive efforts for the good of our Milwaukee community. A donation of $1000 is made by our financial planning and investment advisory firm to the recipient’s charity of choice. The selection criteria is to identify a worthy recipient(s) from among those who have a direct association to our independent investment advisory firm, such as a client, advisory committee member, referral source or a member of our own MGWFG Anxiety Removal Team ® . Past recipients of this award include Kathie Daily for her 25 years served as public relations coordinator for sisters of the Divine Savior, Mary Rose for empowering African young women through education, Jan Lennon for her tireless work on behalf of the MACC Fund, Bob and Laurel Kult for their grandson’s Spencer’s Fund, Avis Haasch and Pat Spoerl for their efforts with the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI Greater Milwaukee), and Bob Sowinski for the National MS Society and the Wisconsin Seed School.
