A sensor is a device that detects changes in quantities.

The specific quantity could be light, heat, motion, gases and pressure.

It provides a corresponding output, generally as an electrical something that can be controlled.

for example; a thermocouple converts heat into an output voltage.

What is the sensor

Old Thermocouple (type K): used to measure the

atmospheric temperature.

Most of the sensors in use today are be able to

communicate with an electronic device.

which is going to do the measuring, calculation and

recording.

Sensors are used in our life rapidly

Applications for sensors; speedometer, parking

sensor and fuel meter in cars.

What is the sensor

Fuel meter (Analog) sensor: used to measure the

level of fuel in the tank.

Speedometer (Analog) sensor: used to measure the

instantaneous speed of a land vehicle.

Parking (Motion) sensor: used to alert the driver of

unseen obstacles during parking.

It depend on the type of sensors.

For type electric thermostat.

The inventor is Warren Johnson.

This thermostat was able to keep temperatures within a degree of accuracy.

that’s better than some of the low quality thermostats on the market today!

Samuel Bagno.

And used to determined location of a person within

a room.

And then used to calculate the movement of the

stars.

Motion sensors

The first use in World War II with mine.

Mines placed below the ground would explode

when it sense movement on the surface.

In modern technology it used at Radar to track enemy.

And helps in air traffic control to avoid airplane accident.

Technological Concepts:

Waves are sent out through the detector

These waves are used to detect movement

Once the waves hit an object, they are bounced back to

the detector.

The waves bounced back are taken in and encoded

The encoded information is then transmitted to the

decoder.

The information is then decoded.

Decoded information is used to activate device.

Advantage of motion sensor:

• Motion sensor has many advantage .

• Help to secure houses which detect any motion around

the house.

• Motion sensors can help to increase energy savings

such as by turning lights off in unoccupied rooms.

• Has made military more dangerous weapons.

• Used in mine explosive and rockets launcher.
