In 1990 the amount of cellular customers passes 5 million

In 1992 customers grew to over 10 million

10,000 cell sites across America

Also in 1992 the first commercial text message was sent

By 1996 there are now 38 million cell phone in use

Subscribers pass 50 million 50,000 cell sites in America

Average customers talked on their phone for 122 minutes per month in 1998

In 1999 congress passed the wireless communications and public safety act.

The act made 9-1-1 the official number to call for emergencies.
