• Rocks and Boulders will be thrown at YOU! Also we will throw limes and sulfur at you that burn your skin.

Page 11: History battlepettington

Mind Games and Disease

• We would play mind games, catapulting severed heads into your camp and make loud noises.

• We would also make our men appear to be superhumanly sized by having them wear armour that appears to be very big.

• We would also catapult dead and diseased animals into your camp to spread disease.

Siege Battle Strategy

Your Castle

Page 13: History battlepettington

Fighters

• Archers have flaming arrows that will set your castle on fire.

• We have a Mantlet which is a portable barrier that provides protection for archers within range of the castle

• Other people fighting work under a shield that has wheels on it, nicknamed “the tortoise shell”

Page 14: History battlepettington

Siege Tower

• We also have a siege tower, which is a tall structure made out of wood that is tall enough to reach over walls.

Page 15: History battlepettington

Greek Fire

• We will also use Greek fire to set your castle and other things (including you) on fire. Greek fire cannot be put out, because if you put water on it it will only grow stronger!

Page 16: History battlepettington

Armour• Our knights will be covered in

leaves and twigs when at battle in the woods so they’ll blend in.

• We use the very best armour you can find, which is made on our manor.

• It is made from the finest metal you can find.

• We have extra thick armour in target places, such as the chest

• All of the parts in the diagram are included in every suit of armour.

Page 17: History battlepettington

Dogs

• We have dogs that will sniff you out and help us find you so we can kill you (not to be harsh or anything) and destroy your camp.

RAWR!

Page 18: History battlepettington

Shields

• We have state of the art shields.– Kite Shields– Heater Shields– Buckler Shields

• They are made out of Metal, Wood and Animal Hides

Page 19: History battlepettington

Castle Protection

• Our castle has a secret room that is fire proof and cannot be broken into unless you are Lord Clare.

• Also, we have armed guards that stand by the entrance to the castle.

• Our moat contains people eating alligators that if you fall in will eat you.

• Our castle is made out of stone which doesn’t catch on fire easily.

Page 20: History battlepettington

Protection Cont.• Also, the walls around our manor are mazes

that are very complex and hard to decipher, unless you live in our manor. And, a siege tower is not tall enough to reach over the walls and you have to find your way through the maze even if you get over

Page 21: History battlepettington

Over Head View

• Safe Room in the basement

Page 22: History battlepettington

Spies

• We have hired spies who will come and find out all of your secrets so we can defeat you in every possible way. You will never know they were in your manor.

Muahaha…

Food for Men in Battle Who are not Near Our Manor

• Our men will have access to good food such as– Buck wheat– Honey comb– Bread– Pottage– Dates– Cheese

Page 24: History battlepettington

Knights Feast at Manor

• They have a lovely party the night before battle to motivate them to do well. And serfs are motivated to join because Lord Clare provides them with extra food for their family for participating. This means we have more men and they are well fed and

not worry about their duties at home while in battle.

Page 25: History battlepettington

Medicine

1. Prevention---armor, weaponry. Learn and improve on past mistakes.

2. Prepare--- enough of each– doctors, scouts, shelter, knights, and surveyors. Be ready to respond quickly.

3. Recognize--- have each knight looking out for one another, know each sickness and how to help. RECOGNIZE help as it is needed.

4. Control----The amount of blood, pain or procedure to be allowed. This is important

because we do not know much about the human anatomy.5. Profit by experience- This pretty much wraps this whole

presentation together. We move FORWARD and learn from our mistakes. We accumulate weapons from our past victories and use those weapons for our next battle.

Page 26: History battlepettington

Medicine Cont.• The well being of our people centers upon the four

main parts of a human. These are earth, water, air and fire.

• Herbal remedies, mixtures, and gem therapy are not unusual therapies to relieving a person of mild sickness.

• After one or multiple kinds of the treatments listed above, one of our people would look towards certain charms, magical prayers, or specific Christian rituals. We all believe in miraculous healing. Housewives and local, small doctors are who we turn to if we were to live in a rural area with no hospitals around.

True Medicines

Usually wise women, who had learned the secrets of which plants had great power of warding off evil, pass their secrets down to their daughters just before death.

The wise doctors of Pettington Manor assure the great quality of their medical remedies by picking the

ingredients at the right time. *The ‘right time’ is facing south at sunrise. This makes their powers more potent. But

we’re not going to tell you that little secret*

We are sure to have multiple experts on burnings, headaches, and the extraction of a

sword from ones’ body on the battlefield.

Page 28: History battlepettington

Secret Remedies• Woodbine cut on the waxing moon was made into

hoops which were preserved until the following March. When children were ill they passed through a hoop three times to cure them.

• Mustard and garlic warded off the plague.• Draw fresh water from a well, taking care not to rest

the basin on earth or stone, only wood. Add a gold

or silver coin to the water, then blades of grass and let seep. Pass the blades of grass across the eye, then pour water from the basin into the eyes. This cures cataracts.
