Review

The majority of the Apostles suffered

cruel and horrific deaths because they

preached that Jesus rose from the dead.“ while men may die out of religious deception, they do not

willing go to their deaths knowing they are perpetrating a hoax”.

It Is Finished !

In John 19:30 Jesus claims “it is finished”.

In Koine Greek this is one word, Tetelestai,

which means that a debt is paid in full.

Page 7: Historicity Of Jesus Lesson 9 The Deity Of Jesus.

What is our relationship with the resurrection?

What does this mean with the relationship

we have with the Lord Jesus?

Should our actions reflect those of the

Apostles?

Page 12: Historicity Of Jesus Lesson 9 The Deity Of Jesus.

Attacks On the Deity Of Christ

Enemies of Christ can discredit the divinity

of Christ if they can prove:

1. He did not fulfill O.T. prophesies.

2. The N.T. reveals inconsistencies with

the morality of Jesus.

John 1:1 , 14

Attacks On the Deity Of Christ

Teachings of the Jehovah witnesses.

is a created being. Not God.

Page 14: Historicity Of Jesus Lesson 9 The Deity Of Jesus.

From Watchtower.com

“ Since all created things had a beginning,

there was a time when God was alone.

Countless ages, however, God became a

Creator. Who was his first creation? The last

book of the Bible identifies Jesus as ‘the

beginning of the creation of God’”

Revelation 3:14

From Watchtower.com

“ Jesus today is neither man nor

God Almighty. Rather, he is a mighty

Spirit creature , a reigning King. Very soon

now , he will manifest his rulership over

our troubled world”.

What’s The Answer?

- The saying must not mean to ever open

your mouth. Separating your lips? Letting

air in? Water? Food?- It is a Hebrew idiom. Found in the O.T

and N.T. Refers more to the length, freedom

or kind of speech.

Page 19: Historicity Of Jesus Lesson 9 The Deity Of Jesus.

What’s The Answer?

Acts chapter 8, the eunuch and Phillip.

“Then Phillip opened his mouth.”

Phillip was talking before this statement.8:30.

Then he began to speak in length preaching

Christ.

Same with Peter and Cornelius. Acts 10:25-29.

Page 20: Historicity Of Jesus Lesson 9 The Deity Of Jesus.

What’s The Answer?

The thought behind this is that Jesus was not

going to speak freely or unreservedly.

He did not give a strong defense or rebuke.

Jesus did not call “ten thousand angels”

to come down from heaven.

Jesus chose to humbly restrain Himself

and be hung on the cross.
