ARISE, Shine,

Season II of ARISE Together in Christ

will take place during this Lent. The

message of Season II is summed up in

the theme, “Change Our Hearts.” Just as Lent takes its

meaning from Easter, so too, this season of ARISE takes its

meaning from the title of the process, ARISE Together in

Christ. We cry out for God’s help to change our hearts

precisely because we long to arise together in Christ.

ARISE Season II might be just what your spirit

needs! Pray about it and Give it a try! Faith sharing

groups begin meeting during the week of February 7th.

You may sign up next weekend, January 23rd && 24th,

just prior to Mass. If you have already been in a group,

you may contact your group leader to sign up before then.

And of course you may always contact your parish team

for any questions: Mike Boyek, Christina Fleury, Kathie

DeWan or Sharon Kaminsky. Check our website and Fa-

ceBook for more information at:

Lent will soon be upon us!

What, Lent will soon be here? We just finished Christmas, how can Lent be so soon?

It is true; Lent this year begins on Ash Wednesday, February 10, 2016.

But “Do Not Be Afraid” — we just received information from Dynamic Catholic that they are offer-

ing a free email program to correspond with Matt Kelley’s book, “Rediscover Jesus,” that was distributed at

Christmas – if you did not get a copy, see Fr. Ed. Here is how it works: sign-up on line at

DynamicCatholic.com/Lent and you will receive a daily email with a short video that will guide you

through the 40 chapters of the book (one each day). This sounds great! It seems like a very simple way,

during Lent, to bring Jesus into our lives, leading to a more personal relationship with Him. I feel that this is

something in which the whole family can participate. Not only that, the kids can show the parents how all

this computer and internet stuff works.

Pro Life Activities – Washington, D.C. - This Friday, January 22, 2016

On Friday, January 22, 2016, buses organized by Elmira, New York Notre Dame High School and

Bradford County Pennsylvanians for Human Life will be departing at different times and places for the March

for Life in Washington, D.C. The parish has already been contacted concerning SSPP parishioner participa-

tion and parish funding support for these buses. If you have any interest in participating in any way in this

year’s March for Life in Washington, D.C. on Friday January 22, 2016, please contact Marie Seibert (570-265-

3122). or Fr. Ed (570-265-2113) ASAP.

175th Anniversary Committee Report

The 175th Anniversary Committee has drawn up a Calendar of Events for the 175th Parish Anniver-

events and activities or attend, or to contribute time and talent to, and enjoy, throughout the year-long celebra-

tion.

The Commemorative Booklet is in the process of being written, and will include the listings of all the

Business Sponsors and Patrons for the anniversary activities, along with a narrative of the history of the parish

ONE in this new directory, so please plan to be included.— plan to pose for a picture at a designated time to

be arranged during those weeks. Appointments will be set up later in the year, before September.

delivery, or check made out to SS Peter & Paul 175th) to be announced, to pick them up at church after Mass,

for your convenience, or you may come to the parish office during office hours 9-3 Monday through Thurs-

day.. They will remain available for purchase later, as long as the supply lasts. The order form is still on the

table in the back of the church, if you want to reserve one or more decks.
