The ambassador made his remarks during a ceremony held at the embassy in Rome, adding that such anniversary brings a sense of pride to all Kuwaitis and comes in recognition of relentless efforts and principals of forgiveness and generosity. The ceremony also highlighted an Islamic Art exhibition at La Scuderie Del Quirinale Museum, based on an invita- tion by President of Vergata Tor Roma Di University Giuseppe Novelli. The exhibi- tion was attended by a number of pro- fessors, students, and public figures expressing admiration to the valuable contents presented at the exhibition, including Kuwait’s role and keenness in human and civilized communication. KUWAIT: Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) issued yesterday a book titled ‘Leader of the Humanitarian Work’ discussing His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah’s pioneering role in alleviating the suf- fering of people affected by natural and man-made disasters. The book reflects the bright image of the humanitarian work of His Highness the Amir, documenting a number of humanitarian ini- tiatives of His Highness the Amir, KRCS’ Board Chairman Dr Hilal Al-Sayer said in a state- ment. The book also discusses the honoring of His Highness the Amir by the United Nations (UN) and granting him the title of ‘Humanitarian Leader’ in recognition of the leading role Kuwait plays in this field, he said. The book also tackled the donations offered by Kuwait to countries and interna- tional humanitarian institutions serving peo- ple in need in all parts of the world, he added. The book mentioned Kuwait’s hosting of three donors’ conferences for Syria, and the remarkable role of His Highness the Amir in dealing with such crisis and means to resolve it, as it constitutes a great threat to the region and the whole world, he added. It tackled the latest donations offered by Kuwait to Palestine, Yemen, Iraq, and the keenness of His Highness the Amir that such relief would immediately reach people suf- fering in their war torn countries, he said. The book talked about the support His Highness the Amir offers to KRCS to aid peo- ple in need, which reflects His highness’ deep wisdom, he added. The title granted to His Highness the Amir as a ‘Humanitarian Leader’ is an unprecedented event in the UN, besides naming Kuwait a ‘Humanitarian Center,’ Sayer affirmed. His Highness the Amir’s great achievement at the Arab and international arenas is a source of great pride to the Kuwaiti people, he said. —KUNA KRCS issues a book titled ‘Leader of Humanitarian Work’ KUWAIT: Zakat House is proud of the UN conferring the title of a humanitarian leader to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and of a center of humanitarian work to Kuwait, said Zakat House Director Dr Ibrahim Al-Saleh yesterday. This statement by the director was made to KUNA today on the first anniversary of this conferring. Dr Saleh recalled the many contributions His Highness the Amir has made over the years, both regionally and internationally, to alleviate the suffering of countless people worldwide due to poverty, destitution, political upheavals, and natural catastrophes. His Highness made these contributions without making any distinc- tions in color, race, religion, or national origin of the recipients, said the director. He added that Kuwait has always been at the vanguard of nations offering chari- table aid to people in distress, noting the country’s long-standing history in charitable donations in many parts of the world. Nothing could manifest that more vividly than the organization, Zakat House, which he heads, an organization whose sole purpose is charita- ble work inside and outside of Kuwait. Humanity’s welfare Meanwhile, Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) Director Naji Al-Mutairi said that on the occasion that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah has devoted his efforts for humanity’s welfare and peace. His Highness the Amir’s efforts helped curb poverty, hungry and the repercussions of wars worldwide, dedicating them to realizing peace and stability around the globe, he said. Mutairi recalled words by the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon during the honoring ceremony held at the UN headquarters in New York last year when he presented His Highness with a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing his role as a leader and sup- porter of the UN humanitarian work. “We thank the Amir and the people of Kuwait for their outstanding generosity towards people in need,” said Ban then.
